That 7D Mark II is dropping like a brick. I’ve talked to two new owners about it and they seemed disappointed.

Can you go into a little detail what you’ve heard? I’ve been looking at this body for a bit and was going to purchase before a trip this summer.

Autofocus was really inconsistent with normal outdoor lighting and in low light it just doesn’t work well focusing at all. I was also looking into getting into the 7D II. I shoot sports for two local papers and went with the 6D instead because most High School sports venues have lousy lighting.

I’ve read the complete opposite about the 7D autofocus, and that it’s excellent in lowlight situations for a crop. Maybe the new owners are disappointed that they didn’t wait for the price to drop before purchasing.

      Dangggg shots fired

Anyone who says the mII isn’t a good camera, well doesn’t know how to use it correctly. And BTW, The 6d is a big drop from the mII and not near as fast for sports. Good luck with that…

My 7dmkii is great. I primarily shoot birds and wildlife with it using a canon 500mm v1 and a canon 1.4x teleconverter v3. In extreme low light, the autofocus will search but at that focal length I would think most bodies would.

Ouch that really hurts us 7D owners.

Ordered my 7d mk ii about a week ago from getitidigital and it still hasn’t shipped

    1. May 14, 2015 at 3:11 pm EDT

Did you receive or has it shipped yet??

  4. May 5, 2015 at 2:00 pm EDT

The 7D MKII is a great camera. I have several, as well as a 7D. The price drop is because of the 4 new cameras Canon is dropping to market in the next few months. 5DS, 5DSR, 6DMKII, & 5DMKIV. The 7D MKii is a great low light camera. I primarily shoot concerts, so low light is a standard in my biz.

    1. May 5, 2015 at 3:10 pm EDT

May I ask what are your typical settings for a concert? I have trouble shooting at my friend’s concerts. :/

    2. May 5, 2015 at 3:20 pm EDT

f2.8 1/400 iso1600-2000 depending on the venue. Sometimes the iso may need to be bumped up higher, but I have yet to shoot a concert over 2000 iso

    <$4000 for 1Dx? That's insane… I really don't need a 2nd one, but at that price…

  7. May 5, 2015 at 5:37 pm EDT

Are you going to buy me that? Or are you hinting for me to buy you that?

  8. May 5, 2015 at 5:39 pm EDT

I’d be happy to sell my 7DII and get a 1DX at this price. I’ve only used the 7DII for reception shots at three weddings.. all low light, mostly shooting ambient light with the 18-35 F1.8 zoom lens (I’d have to sell it too…). Any takers? Would love a 1DX. BTW, the frame rate on the 7DII is super fast…if i was shooting sports I’d keep it.. way to fast for bride getting ready pics.. they don’t move quite that fast.

  9. May 5, 2015 at 6:25 pm EDT

It’s not a USA warranty which explains the lower price.

  10. May 5, 2015 at 6:43 pm EDT

How low do you think that 7D will go? $1000?

B&H is selling the 7D body for $749

  11. May 5, 2015 at 7:00 pm EDT

I’ve had my 7d mII for bout 5 months now and it is AWSOME fast and great in low light . Primarily shoot shoot sports and concerts when I can . The auto ISO works great in quick changing outdoor light for baseball and track & field events. The mII is higher pixel rate than the d1x so why but the d1x until price comes way down…

“Factory Fresh” does not mean “NEW” to me……

I bought one of the 1DX bodies from Get It Digital on eBay for $3999, so thought I would share here what I received…

Some have complained about slow shipping – I paid another $89 for FedEx Priority Overnight shipping to California, and they sent same day (just received now). So I think paying for expedited shipping may take priority of “free shipping” purchases, but just speculation on my part.

    Excellent packing.

1DX box is new and all contents inside appear new and unopened (and appears that nothing was opened/moved from factory set up).

Everything cosmetically looks brand new. No warranty card included – everything else included.

Inserted the battery and turned on… opened to Date/Time set screen in English, with London as default city. Wondering if this means that it is of a UK/Europe origin?

Ran ShutterCount software and reported Shutter Count: 0

Jumped over to Canon CPS and logged in and added serial number reported by ShutterCount (matches serial number on outside of box) to my CPS account and it came back “You have added EOS-1D X Body with a points value of 10”.

Battery charger has U.S. cord and charges fine.

They did call and offered me a U.S.A. model for $4400 with free overnight shipping, but I declined.

Anyway, I’m very pleased with the price and looking forward to using it.

I had the exact same experience with the 7D Mark II. I didn’t do FedEx Priority Overnight however, I got mine a week after ordering.

I’m not crazy about the battery charger that comes with a separate cord however, I’m probably one of the happiest 7D Mark II owners in the world! Considering the savings, how great the camera is, and the fact that both the Lexar SD & CF memory cards were on sale before my purchase makes the *new camera experience* that much sweeter!

      Thank you CanonPriceWatch!

Mine came finally! It was new in box!
