Adorama and Amazon, and B&H all have a one-day instant savings on SanDisk Ultra SD cards, these are UHS-I, Class 1, and 40 MB/s. These aren’t exactly fast but are good value cards from a top-brand like SanDisk. The 32GB card is at a particularly good price point. These deals all expire tonight, or when sold out. (B&H’s has now price matched, Adorama is sold out of 32GB.)
- Ultra UHS-I SDXC 64GB 40 MB/s for $27.95 at Adorama, Amazon, B&H
- Ultra UHS-I SDHC 32GB 40MB/s for $12.95 at Adorama, Amazon, B&H
- Ultra UHS-I SDHC 16GB 40MB/s for $8.95 at Adorama, Amazon, B&H
Thanks Jonathan for the heads up!
Considering that the 5dmiii can’t do uha would these be a good option as rollover type media? Are they fast enough for video?
Generally, anything that is Class 10 should be sufficient for HD video. This is Class 10 (in addition to UHS-I Class 1, although UHS-I isn’t supported by the 5D Mark III.)
What is the reason for saying — “These aren’t exactly fast…”
You can get much faster cards, the Extreme / Extreme Plus / Extreme Pro line. Generally these Ultra cards are sufficient for most purposes, but if you are looking to shoot extremely long bursts, you probably need a faster card.
I just ordered a 5dmiii. Which card is compatible?
You’ll want a CF card on the 5D Mark III, putting an SD card in slows your buffer clear speed down.
Now, if only they also offered some deals on the CF cards!
Adorama is now sold out of 32GB, but luckily B&H has price matched $12.95.
These cards have a very slow write speed of 40MB/s I would not suggest this if you do any burst shooting.
Amazon has SanDisk ones if u search Extreme Pro Plus I think it’s called. 60MB/s 32gb $20
I haven’t had any issues with my 40MB/s 16gb cards bursting. I burst shooting automotive. Yeah it’s just a tad slower than could be but, it definitely works and between bursts, i have time to wait anyways. 🙂
Dang, I missed it
