New Street Prices: Tamron 24-70 VC $1070 AR, 70-200 VC $1250 AR

We’re pleased to announce we’re expanding our popular street price program with more 3rd-party lenses over the next weeks!

Today, we’re excited to launch street prices on two very popular Tamron lenses, brand new from authorized Tamron USA dealers with free shipping, and a 6-year Tamron USA warranty.

These are excellent image-stabilized alternatives to the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM and EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM II if you don’t want to shell out $1699 AR and $1849 AR respectively for the Canon lenses.

There is currently a Tamron mail-in rebate of $100 that expires December 31st, please place your order before Wednesday to take advantage of this mail-in rebate.

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

Really appreciate your expanding street prices, and for including third party lenses. Look forward to a street price for Sigma’s 85/1.4, too.

are you sure tamron will cover these? just want to make sure since they’re so weird now with warranty registration…they want to see a lot more documentation of sale than most retailers.

Yes, these are Tamron USA lenses sold by an authorized Tamron dealer, with a proper receipt, so they are good for the 6 year Tamron warranty.

Manufacturers cannot control the final selling price of their lenses, nor can they restrict warranty only to people who pay full price, unless they write this limitation clearly and openly in the warranty terms (surprise, it’s not there).

Yeah just now saw this and bought the Canon 24-70 II yesterday as well. I read that canon was better over all than other 3rd party lenses.

I just did (get the 70-200 2.8 IS II) using the street price. What an outstanding lens (and deal!) ! Had the opportunity to use it for a family baptism ceremony yesterday. So sharp and smooth! It gives my low light challenged 7D got an additional stop (in a way)! It’s a bit of a heavy beast but you get used to it quickly.

I got an amazing deal exactly 1 year ago by watching CPW when there was a “Double Dip” savings on the Canon 70-200 2.8 IS II and have never regretted it. The resale value, pinpoint accurate AF, and truer focal length at full zoom (Tamron really more like a 180mm at full zoom) sealed the deal. But the Tamron is no slouch and is terrific for those on a budget.

Does Tamron sell refurbs, and if so, will you start monitoring those prices?

Got the Tamaron 70-200mm in street price. Very pleasant and pleased transaction with the vendor. Thanks CPW.
