Street Prices: 6D Body $1339, Kit $1939, 5D Mark III $2599 and Lenses

Thanks for your interest in street prices — please note, both we and the street price retailers are experiencing extreme volume right now, as this is the busiest retail week of the year, plus the new rebates. As a result, there may be extra delays to get through the street price process and to ship the orders. Thanks for your continued patience.

The new rebate has brought renewed interest in the street prices, mostly because savvy readers recognize that this is the best possible mail-in rebate this year. The mail-in rebate is scheduled to last until January 3rd, 2015, and purchases at street price are fully eligible for the mail-in rebate.

The 6D, 6D 24-105L Kit, and 5D Mark III have been flying off the shelves as the mail-in rebate was increased to $300:

Some of the lenses are at great prices and extremely popular.

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

An earlier version of this post had a typo. The correct street price for the 50L is $1239 AR.

Street Price is awesome! Wish I had knew it before I purchased the 1635F2.8L ($1699! no rebate! 08/2013). This August, I purchased 70-200 F4L IS for 1069 street price, awesome lens! Helped me to take tons of amazing pictures for my friends engaging party. Today, I just put an order for 50L from the street price, CPW street price is a big steel!

Sorry, is the Street price for the 6D $1339 with an additional $300 off (so $1039) or $1339 after the rebate?

All prices are “AR” — after rebate.

What do you mean by street prices?

    1. November 25, 2014 at 10:17 am EDT

Canon has a Minimum Advertised Price – the lowest price a retailer can advertise a product at. The Street Price is what you will actually pay for the product, often lower than the MAP because of a sale. So even Canon sets the MSRP on a lense at $1,000, the MAP may be $900. So a retailer can put the product “on sale” for $900 AND advertise it. If they want to sell it at $850, they can, they just can’t show that price in a print ad or on their website.

Does the street price include tax? Some of the local shops are offering the 5D Mark III at the $3,099 AR price tag including tax. I know it’s still more than what SP would be with tax, but I’m old fashioned and like to shop and brick & mortar shops.

For most states, we have a street price retailer that does not collect tax.
