This is probably a price mistake, but the Canon Direct Store has the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM for $741.65, after a $150 mail-in rebate. This is the cheapest price that we’ve seen for this lens.
We say it is a price mistake because, even though this is a new lens, it is receiving the 15% discount that refurbished lenses are currently getting.
The Canon store charges tax to almost all states. We feel there will be more opportunities soon for double-dip deals on this lens. To get e-mailed when these deals start, click here to set a notification.
I used the mail in rebate this fall when i bought a 24-70 2.8, am I still eligible for the rebate for the Macro lens? The rebate form states “(Limit 1 Claim per
lens per household – Claim form may include separate purchases of different lenses”
It’s our understanding that you can submit multiple rebate forms, as long as you don’t claim the same lens twice during the rebate period. Some of our readers have already done this.
Thanks!
refurbished ?
It’s a new lens, but it’s mis-listed under refurbished, which is why it’s getting a 15% discount.
Refurbished lenses at the Canon store have the word “Refurbished” in the title.
Thanks
Off the topic, but checking if any authorized vendor having deal/sale for Canon 5d3 tomorrow?
I haven’t heard of anything. Unless you’re in Canada. We’re making some deals. 🙂
I haven’t heard of anything yet.

I think they’re having some issues. They had (now out of stock) an “EF 35mm f/2 IS USM Refurbished” listed for $217. I got real excited. Then I took a closer look. It was the old 35mm f/2 in the picture. I added it to my cart and the SKU was for the old 35mm f/2. Also, the specs mentioned a 52mm filter size instead of 67mm.
I didn’t want to risk getting a 35mm f/2 I don’t want, so I didn’t check out. Also, I figured if I argued with Canon about sending me the wrong lens, I’d lose the argument because the picture, SKU, and specs were wrong for it to be a 35mm f/2 IS USM. If people actually get the 35mm IS USM for $217, they got a heck of a deal.
That one is clearly an error — probably a mistaken “IS” addition into the name of the item. They’ve had the error for almost a month now…
