Almost Double-Dip: EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM for $1359

Adorama dropped the price on the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM by $140. It’s now available for $1359.00, after a $200 mail-in rebate. Proceed to checkout to see this price. You also get a 4% reward, a free UV filter kit and other bonuses.

UPDATE: B&H Photo Video has also matched this price, $1359.00. They’re also giving a 4% reward.

This is the cheapest price from an authorized dealer that we’ve seen in over four years, since August of 2009.

Certainly, these are great times to get some of these L lenses. Only if money is not an object.

Yes. It’s a bit insane to see them all get heavily discounted, one by one, in the span of a couple of weeks.

Are these deals sensitive to IP addresses or to the referral links that were clicked?

In my browsers, Adorama shows $1499 after the $200 Amex Rewards card rebate. B&H shows $1699.

I did add the items to carts at both sites and prices remained unchanged.

With Canon deals these days, you need to go all the way to checkout, not just in-cart. Adorama is also occasionally sensitive to referral links as well.

Any idea, in your experience, if Amazon will price match?

They don’t have a policy of price matching on an order-by-order basis, but if enough people call and ask them the price might go down within a few hours.

I know that on every amazon product page there is a link called “tell us about a lower price”. I reported both the B&H and the Adorama prices to them. It would prob be help convince them if more people reported it. Besides, using that link is super easy and faster compared to calling in to try to get a price match.

I noticed on your 100-400mm lens page you’ve listed Best Buy as “deactivated” This isn’t true. In fact, they’ve matched the double dip and are selling the lens for $1559.99

We’ll take a look into this — we’re probably not fetching prices correctly from Best Buy at this time.

There is a listing for the 100-400mm on Camera Canada for CA$1399. It says that this is an “Authorized Dealer – North American Warranty”. Does anyone know if the $200 Rebate would work with this purchase?

No, the mail-in rebate only works on US authorized dealers.
