Beat the EOS Body Price Increase — Coming This Sunday

UPDATE: Other sites are reporting a lens price increase as well. This is not true. The current instant rebate for lenses will be renewed, no price changes on lenses are expected.

This is a reminder that we’ve heard from several reliable sources that a price increase on EOS bodies is coming on this Sunday, June 19th (Father’s Day). The current instant rebate will be reduced in value, resulting in an effective price increase. Here are some of the items affected by the price increase, and their current street prices:

These street prices are brand new items from Canon USA authorized dealers with a 1-year Canon USA warranty, and are eligible for the free 13-month CarePAK Plus promotion.

Street Price Special on 24-70 II and Upcoming Price Increases on EOS

We now have a street price special on the very popular Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM: it’s now $1599, if you buy 2 lenses. The street price for a single lens purchase is $1629.95.

Limited Time, Street Price Special: EOS + PIXMA PRO-100 Bundles

For a very limited time we’re pleased to offer the return of the EOS PIXMA PRO-100 printer deals in a street price exclusive. While quantities last, you can add a PIXMA PRO-100 (and 50 sheets of photo paper) to an EOS body purchase for effectively free, after a $350 mail-in rebate. Please inquire via the street price form for the EOS body and note “PIXMA PRO-100 Bundle” in the comments.

As many readers are aware, printer bundles were placed under MAP restrictions on May 1st, and dealers may no longer openly advertise printer bundles with a final price less than the MAP price of the camera.

PIXMA PRO Bundle Deal MAP Restrictions Coming on May 1st

We now have more information on the changes to printer bundle deals coming on May 1st. The mail-in rebate will continue to be renewed; however, a new MAP (minimum advertised price) restriction will be put in place. The advertised after-rebate final price of the bundle will be restricted: it can’t be less than the MAP price of the camera. As with all MAP restrictions, the net effect is that competition is reduced and effective prices go up.

We advise that you take advantage of these bundle deals before the new MAP restrictions go in place on May 1st. Readers report that even though many stores are closed for Passover, the date on the invoice is the day of ordering, ensuring you are eligible for the mail-in rebate.

Significant Changes to Printer Bundle Deals Coming on May 1st

We’ve now heard from multiple sources that highly discounted bundle deals will no longer be offered after the current rebate period ends on April 30th. This will put an end to the bargains where the camera + printer (after $350 mail-in rebate) is priced much lower than the camera alone.

This is the LAST rebate period to take advantage of stellar printer bundle deals. Please note that many stores close for Passover beginning this evening, and remain closed until May 1st!

Take advantage of the following opportunities before they’re gone forever. We’re sad to see this go, as it’s one of the best reoccurring Canon deals.

EOS 5D Mark III for $1899 (Grey Market) at AllNewShop via eBay
