BigValueInc via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $2549.99. This is a return of the deal they had two weeks ago where they sold 500 bodies at this price.

BigValueInc are not authorized dealers. However, in the last sale, we heard from seven readers who purchased this: six reported getting a US model with US warranty card. One reported getting a Japanese warranty card. No other complaints were heard — $2549 is a great price, compare with $3349 at Amazon which is current lowest authorized dealer price. The 5D Mark III Body for $2549.99 deal at BigValueInc via eBay is still active — after about 48 hours, they have sold an impressive 432 camera bodies, or just over $1.1 million — that’s a lot of cameras.

It looks like this sale will stop at 500 sold (or sooner). With only 68 remaining, that should happen sometime tonight.

The last time we saw a big 5D Mark III sale like this was when Adorama sold 818 bodies on eBay in September of 2012 at $2749 each, for a tidy $2.25 million.

From their sale last week, users reported getting either a US model, or a Canadian model “split kit” (kit box with lens removed). Both US and Canadian models are eligible for US warranty service. At about $950 savings vs. authorized dealers, this is a good savings and likely worth the risk.

Usual cautions: this is from BigValueInc. They’re not an authorized dealer, but do have 98% eBay positive feedback. From their sale two weeks ago, 3 users e-mailed me to report that they received US model 5D Mark IIIs including warranty cards. One user reported getting US model without warranty card, but Canon will still service any US model. The reason why they’re cheap is they are “split kits” — they were kits but the lens has been sold separately.

I normally stick with the big, most reputable dealers but they’re all $950 more at this point, thanks to Canon pricing policies. $950 buys a third party warranty and a 24-105mm lens.
