Canon Refurb Sale (15% Off on Lenses) Restocked Today

The Canon Direct Store sale on refurbished lenses, speedlites, and EOS bodies was restocked about an hour ago. Many popular lenses came back in stock, but quickly sold out within 15-45 minutes. Canon is offering 15% off refurbished lenses this week.

These deals sell out quickly; the best way to get in on these deals is via e-mail notification on specific items. You can browse our refurb stock tracker to see what’s in-stock and get notified on out-of stock items (click the ‘Notify’ button on our tracker page).

EOS 6D and 5D Mark III Coming Soon in Deals at eBay

We can now add the EOS 6D to the list of known Thanksgiving and Black Friday deals. BigValueInc via eBay will likely have the EOS 6D for $1400 on Thanksgiving day, and we suspect they are the retailer offering the EOS 5D Mark III for $2445 on Black Friday.

To get e-mailed when these deals start, set a notification on the 5D Mark III or set a notification on the EOS 6D.

We’ve received a lot of questions about BigValueInc. They’re an unauthorized dealer, but we still think this is a very good deal:

  • They sell split kits: you’ll receive your 5D Mark III or 6D in a Kit box with the lens removed.
  • They have a history of great deals over the last couple of years. The vast majority of our readers report that they received US model items, which are eligible for Canon warranty service. Canon doesn’t ask for warranty cards when going for warranty service, nor do they care if you purchased it from an unauthorized retailer (we did a survey last year).
  • We’ve had hundreds of readers mention their purchase from BigValueInc was successful and uneventful, but we’ve also heard a few reports of readers receiving non-US model bodies. We think the chance of this happening is very low, their eBay feedback is 98%+.
  • Given the large price difference vs. authorized dealers ($250 for 6D, $550 for 5D Mark III — enough to cover a third-party warranty or put towards new lenses) this is a great deal and will sell out quickly.

If you have any stories (good or bad) about BigValueInc please share it in a comment and help your fellow readers out.

New Canon Instant Rebates on EOS Bodies

Canon started a new, but disappointing, instant rebate on EOS bodies. They’re offering a $100 instant rebate on the 5D Mark III, the 6D, and the 7D, and a $200 rebate on the 60D.

It looks like retailers are sticking close to MAP pricing at this time: the 5D Mark III has gone from $3399 to $3299, and the EOS 6D has gone from $1899 to $1799. These prices are underwhelming.

Oddly this rebate only lasts four days — from November 24th through November 27th, which points to another promotion for Black Friday after that (or perhaps the rebates will end and prices will be allowed to float again).

Canon Black Friday Week Refurbished Sale Started — 15% off Lenses!

The Canon Direct Store has started their sale on refurbished lenses, speedlites, and EOS bodies. They’re offering 15% off refurbished lenses and “up to 25% off” refurbished bodies. Reminder, refurbished items now come with a one-year Canon warranty!

Add to cart to see the discount.

It looks like both the 5D Mark III and 6D are not included in the discount, which is unfortunate.

Canon Black Friday Week Refurbished Sale Coming Tonight

Just as we predicted, the Canon Direct Store will start a sale at midnight ET tonight on refurbished lenses, speedlites, and EOS bodies. They’re offering 15% off refurbished lenses and “up to” 25% off refurbished bodies. Reminder, refurbished items now come with a one-year Canon warranty!

UPDATE: It looks like both the 5D Mark III and 6D are not included in the EOS body discount. Check again at midnight to be sure, but that is unfortunate.

Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM for $999 at Cameraland eBay

Authorized Sigma Dealer Cameraland via eBay has the Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM for Canon for $999.99.

This is a great deal — $250 lower than other authorized dealers for this optically-stabilized lens! This is a great alternative if you don’t want to spend $1899 on the Canon 70-200 II.

Cameraland via eBay are an authorized sigma dealer. Note, they list on this lens (and every other lens that they sell):

“As one of the largest Sigma dealers in the USA we are happy to offer this great lens at a super price. We had an in store demo and this was opened and shown at the event.”

All of our readers have received brand new items, unopened including hood, case, caps, etc. We think this line in their eBay listing is to guard them against manufacturer pressure as this price is well below MAP — currently $1249 at other authorized retailers.

EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM for $879 at Adorama via eBay

EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM

Adorama via eBay has the Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM for $879.00 in a eBay daily deal, after a $300 mail-in rebate. It also comes with three free filters.

This is the lowest price that we’ve seen for this lens ever, it’s down from its introduction price of $1499. It’s nice to see the price drop, but even at this price it’s barely competitive with the new Sigma Art 24-105mm OS.
