Street Price Drop: 6D+24-105L $1829 AR, 5D3+24-105L $2999 AR

We’re pleased to report yet another street price drop in full-frame kits that include the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens. The prices are now $40-$50 lower than the recent drop.

Street price orders are guaranteed to arrive in-time for Christmas with free shipping if ordered by TOMORROW.

These are the new lowest-ever prices from an authorized dealer for these items, after the $300 Canon mail-in rebate. (You can also check out the 5D Mark III kits + printer at B&H or Adorama.)

The following two lens street prices continue to be our most popular.

No surprise, as those are the best prices we’ve seen in a year. See all the street price deals.

Most Popular Street Prices: 24-70 II $1699 AR, 70-200 II $1849 AR

Thanks to the recent unexpected price drop, our most popular street prices at the moment are the:

Both are brand new, after the Canon $150 mail-in rebate, from Canon USA authorized dealers with a full Canon USA warranty. Guaranteed delivery before Christmas with free shipping.

These are the lowest street prices we’ve ever had for these lenses, and the lowest price we’ve seen since the sales in December 2013. These prices are bringing out a lot of first-time street price users (and the usual skepticism)! For their benefit here’s a quick recap of what street price is all about:

In April of 2014, Canon began strictly enforcing their Minimum Advertised Price policy which forbids retailers from advertising items for sale below a certain mandated price. It doesn’t prevent stores from having deals, it just prevents them from telling you about it. The “street price” is a price we know some retailers are willing to sell at. You can fill out the contact form on a product’s page to get in contact with us, and we can help you obtain this price, from a Canon authorized dealer with full Canon USA warranty. All items are brand new, eligible for mail-in rebates, come from reputable retailers with return policies, free shipping, and no tax to most states. Street price orders generally ship out the same or next day.

Thousands of readers have now done street prices this year, you can read their stories here (please write a review if you’ve done it!), or you can read the street price FAQ for more details.

B&H DealZone: Steadicam Merlin 2: $299, Today Only

Something a little different in today’s B&H DealZone: they have the Steadicam Merlin 2 Camera Stabilizing System for $299.00. This is a today only price (or until sold out.)

This is a great price for a highly-reviewed stabilizing system, for fluid video, supporting cameras up to 5 pounds. You can learn more about it from B&H’s informative video, or watch someone set it up for the 5D Mark III. I’ve heard there’s a learning curve to get everything setup, but once it’s going, it works well!

This is a solid deal, as this was introduced a couple years ago at $799 (and still is that price today at Adorama.)

Refurbished: 30% off 70D + 18-55 IS STM ($756), 25% off 7D ($720)

The Canon Direct Store added to their rolling refurbished sale. For the next two days they’re featuring 30%-off the refurbished EOS 70D with 18-55 IS STM and 25%-off the refurbished EOS 7D. These prices only last until Monday evening (or when sold out).

As usual, our refurbished tracker has the full details of everything available.

If you prefer a brand new EOS 7D from an authorized dealer, please consider our street price of $899.

Is the new EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II In-Stock at Adorama?

Adorama has updated their page for the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II — it now says “Now Shipping” (instead of “Pre-order”). It’s priced at $2199.00. Free expedited shipping.

We don’t know if this means the item is truly in-stock, or if it means that they’re expecting stock imminently. Several retailers told us the first batch was last Thursday and insufficient to fill all pre-orders. A second batch is due near the end of this coming week. This Adorama status change looks like a good sign. (If you’re desperate for one, order to get in the queue, then ask their customer support for an estimated ship date.)

It’s important to delay cancelling other pre-orders until after you have a confirmed ship date. One reader mentioned a bad experience regarding BuyDig. The store was showing “In Stock” on this lens early last week. Turns out that wasn’t true, and he unfortunately already cancelled his B&H pre-order.

Street Price Drop: 70-200 II $1849 AR, 24-70 II $1699 AR, 5D3 & 6D

As a result of the recent and unexpected Canon price drop, we now have slightly lowered street prices. Note that we don’t see the same reduction in street price (as we did in the MAP, or Minimum Advertised Price), as street prices were already more closely aligned to the true product cost.
