Canon Refurbished Sale: 15% Off Lenses Until February 19th

UPDATE: A restock happened today at 11:30 AM. You can see what was restocked.

The Canon Direct Store started a sale on refurbished items. They’re offering 15% off lenses and 30% off select bodies until February 19th. You also get Canon eCash with every purchase until February 14th.

As usual, the sale began with not much in-stock. As with previous sales, we expect a large restock sometime during the sale. If the most desirable lenses restock (they don’t always), they will be at fantastic prices (e.g. 70-200 II for $1495.32, 24-70 II for $1359.32). They will, however, sell out in minutes, we highly recommend signing up for a refurbished notification via our refurb stock tracker (click the ‘Notify’ button in the right column next to an out-of-stock item).

Here’s are the good deals currently in-stock:

EF 100-400mm II In-Stock $2199 at Profeel via eBay

Authorized Canon dealer Profeel via eBay let us know they have a few copies of the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II in-stock and available to ship, the price is $2199.00. This has been a difficult lens to get a hold of and has been out of stock for several weeks at most major dealers.

Hot: 5D Mark III + 24-105L Import for $2599 BigValueInc eBay

BigValueInc via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III with EF 24-105L IS Kit for $2599.99. This is the new lowest price that we’ve seen to-date for this camera plus lens combo, a hot deal!

Conservatively valuing the lens at $550 places the camera body at $2049, extremely close to the $2k threshold.

This is likely an import, as BigValueInc via eBay is not an authorized dealer. As a result, a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed (the store provides a warranty instead). Historically Canon USA has provided warranty service — but this is at the discretion of Canon USA.

This retailer has been a reliable eBay seller based on eBay feedback and reader feedback. We will caution that their return policy (for elective returns rather than defective returns) is strict, so make sure you want this before buying. We will also caution that other eBay dealers have recently attempted up-sell calls, but as long as you’re firm, our readers report no problems receiving a brand new camera plus lens, and this is a fantastic price.

Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Announced

UPDATE: Price is $849.00 at B&H.

Sigma just announced the Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM, designed for full-frame cameras. The list price is not yet available, but just like the extremely popular Art 50mm f/1.4 (street price: $855) and Art 35mm f/1.4 (street price: $810), we expect excellent image quality for a very reasonable price. This definitely will give the Canon EF 24mm f/1.4L II USM (street price: $1469 AR) a run for its money.

The pricing on the Sigma Art 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM hasn’t been announced yet. If you’d like to be notified when the lens is given a price and is available for pre-order, be sure to sign-up for pre-order notification.

Pre-Order the 5DS from Canada for $3353 USD (vs $3699 B&H)

It looks like the best way to get a discounted price on the new Canon EOS 5Ds, Canon EOS 5Ds R, or Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM is to pre-order from Canada:

Camera Canada, an authorized Canon Canada dealer, has the Canon EOS 5Ds for $4099.00 (Canadian $), the Canon EOS 5Ds R for $4299.00 (Canadian $), and the Canon EF 11-24mm f/4L USM for $3499.00 (Canadian $).

After adding shipping (about $40) and converting to USD at current exchange rates, the final price is $3353 USD (vs $3699 from B&H) on the 5DS, $3515 USD (vs $3899 from B&H) on the 5DS R, and $2866 USD (vs $2999 from B&H) on the 11-24mm. That’s significant savings for newly announced items!

Readers report that they’ve never experienced tax, duty, or other border-crossing fees when purchasing from Camera Canada, so the price paid to the store should be the final price. The store will also optionally bill you in USD (at the prevailing exchange rate at the time the item ships), but it’s important you select the “Contact Me” option as a payment method during checkout and mention this. As another benefit, you won’t be billed until the item is ready to ship. Pre-orders will be filled in the order received.

Historically, Canon cameras and lenses from Canada have come with Canon USA and Canada warranty cards that indicate that the item is warrantied in both Canada and the USA, and readers have never reported trouble with obtaining warranty service from Canon USA.

5DS Preorder Notifications, or 5D Mark III $2149, 6D $1299 AR

The EOS 5DS ($3699) was announced, but not available for pre-order because the camera does not yet have FCC approval. To get notified the instant the 5DS are available for pre-order, use our notification system to sign-up for pre-order notifications on the EOS 5DS or notifications on the EOS 5DS R.

Since yesterday’s launch we’ve had a surprising surge in interest for the 5D Mark III and 6D. If you have read the EOS 5DS specs and decided the camera is just not for you (or are not willing to wait until June), there are still some excellent deals on the 5D Mark III and 6D as retailers continue to clear them out:

The 5D Mark III is only $2149 (might be import) from GetItDigital via eBay. As recently as yesterday, readers have recently reported receiving Canon USA warranty cards on 5D Mark III purchases from this store. (Recent purchases of the 1D X for $4199 have been without warranty cards — likely grey market.) If you prefer an authorized dealer with a guaranteed Canon USA warranty, our street price is $2399 AR.

We also have the EOS 6D brand new from an authorized Canon USA dealer with a full Canon USA warranty for $1299 after the $300 Canon-mail in rebate.

EOS 5DS, 5DS R, T6i, T6s, and EF 11-24mm f/4L USM Announced

Canon just announced the following cameras and lens!

The EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R are the long-awaited 50MP+ full-frame DSLRs. It’s yet to be seen if the sensor technology is bought-in (e.g. Sony) or new Canon technology. At $3699 and $3899 with and without anti-alias filter, respectively, they are priced modestly (similar to where the 5D Mark III started out).

We’re excited to see the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM — hefty price at $2999 price tag, but apparently it’s designed to resolve pixel-sharp on the 50MP EOS 5DS. This one’s available by the end of the month.

Finally, two new rebels, the EOS Rebel T6i and the slightly up-market EOS Rebel T6s, the first rebel to feature an LCD top-plate.
