Hot: Buy PIXMA-PRO 100 Ink Set, Get 680 Sheets 13×19″ Free

Posted December 18, 2016 at 11:27 am EST by CanonPriceWatch. 34 comments.

This ridiculously hot deal is back from the Canon Direct Store. When you buy the 8 CLI-42 (for PIXMA PRO-100) ink tanks individually, you get 20 “free gifts” of photo paper, totalling 680 sheets of 13×19″ (in semi-gloss, pro-lustre, and glossy plus II), and 20 sheets each of Photo Paper Pro Semi-gloss, Photo Paper Pro Platinum, and Photo Paper Pro Premium Matte, in 8.5×11″.

The individual ink tanks cost $16.99 each for a total of $135.92, not much more expensive than buying the combo kit for $124.99. The (inflated) retail value of all the free paper is $1427.80, which makes your sales receipt look downright silly.

This is the same deal as the previous free 13×19″ paper deal which sold out very quickly. Coupon code “SLEIGHRIDE” gets you flat-rate $10 expedited shipping to arrive before Christmas.

They also have a similar deal on PIXMA PRO-10 ink.

A Surprising Tip for Getting More Money for your PIXMA PRO-100

Posted December 17, 2016 at 8:31 pm EST by CanonPriceWatch. 23 comments.

With all the great PIXMA PRO-100 bundles lately, many readers are asking how much you can expect to get from selling their PIXMA PRO-100. The answer (no surprise) is not much, if you’re trying to sell the entire printer. That’s because the heavy weight of the printer (50+ pounds) makes it very cost-prohibitive to ship, and your local market may not be large enough to sustain a steady sale of the printer.

Luckily, there are consumable components of the printer that represent most of the value of the printer. As a plus, they’re small and easy to ship, so you can take advantage of a larger market. The print head fetches about $70 when still sealed (eBay Completed Sales, Amazon Listings), and the full ink tanks fetch about $90-$100 (eBay Completed Sales). After shipping and seller fees, you can expect to net $120-$130 for these printer parts. As long as you’re willing to deal with the mail-in rebate and the time to list, sell, and ship your parts, printer bundle deals are some of the best ways to save on Canon gear.

UPDATE: Some readers have asked if the PIXMA PRO-100 comes with full ink cartridges or “starter” ink. It comes with full ink cartridges. This has been well-studied by weighing full and empty cartridges; the “with printer” cartridges are identical in weight (before and after) to retail cartridges.

Any other tips for fellow readers? Put them in the comments below!

Check out the following great printer bundle deals still live (many for this weekend only):
