Amazon Prime Day: “save big on select SanDisk and WD products”

Not much is known about the deals in this year’s Amazon “Prime Day” (which starts tomorrow at 3 AM ET). One deal that has already been announced by Amazon is “save big on select SanDisk and WD storage and memory products”. This is a deal that runs nearly every year and it’s typically worth waiting for.

Most Prime Day deal are restricted to Amazon Prime members only. Just like the previous four years, CanonPriceWatch will be watching all the deals, starting at 3 AM ET Monday. You can browse last year’s live-updating post or our archive of Prime Day related posts for examples of what was available in previous years.

Amazon Prime Day Starts on Monday July 15th. Here’s What to Expect

This year’s Amazon “Prime Day” will start on Monday, July 15th! The deals start at 3 AM ET on Monday July 15th and run until 3 AM ET on Wednesday July 17th. Amazon’s Prime Day will have many exciting deals, many restricted to Amazon Prime members only. Just like the previous four years, CanonPriceWatch will be watching all the deals.

Don’t expect deals on Canon cameras or lenses on Prime Day. Canon items are restricted by a MAP year-round and Prime Day is no exception. You can browse last year’s live-updating post or our archive of Prime Day related posts for examples of what was available. We expect to see great prices on memory cards, filters, bags, Rokinon lenses, color calibration, studio equipment, and perhaps a 3rd party lens or two. Deals sell out quickly, so be prepared to jump on them (or waitlist). It is also a perfect time to pick up Amazon devices (such as Echo, Echo Dot, Fire TV, Fire Tablet, Kindle and assorted subscriptions).

As many deals are restricted to Amazon Prime members only, now would be a good time to sign-up for a free 30-day trial of Prime if you haven’t yet already. Be sure to check back on Monday 3 AM for the deals!

Announced by Canon: RF 24-240, PowerShot G5 X II, G7 X III

Canon announced a new RF lens (the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM) and two new PowerShot cameras tonight (the PowerShot G5 X Mark II and PowerShot G7 X Mark III). All three new items are available for pre-order at authorized dealers such as B&H and Adorama.

Kickstarter: Travel Tripod by Peak Design — $8M Raised, 10 Days Left

It’s nearly last call for Peak Design‘s 9th Kickstarter campaign — a new Travel Tripod that is full of innovative features. This campaign has been a runaway success with almost $8 million pledged from over 18,000 backers. There’s just ten days left to join the campaign.

We previously wrote about the three most innovative features of this tripod, beyond the space-saving design. We were very impressed with the stowaway phone attachment, their one-ring ball head control, and the compatibility with the rest of the Peak Design ecosystem.

The Kickstarter campaign has historically been the best way to save on a Peak Design product — save up to 20% vs. the future retail price, a discount that likely won’t be seen for several years (if at all). You’ll also be among the first to receive the new product. Pledging $289 gets you the aluminium Travel Tripod; $479 gets you the carbon fiber Travel Tripod, but only until July 19th. Check out their Kickstarter campaign today.

Grey Market Deals: EOS R $1709, 70-200 III $1699, 70-200 f/4 II $1049

A few great grey market deals have now appeared from reputable unauthorized dealers via eBay.

As they are not from authorized Canon USA dealer, a 1-year Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed. Please also consider our street prices which are only slightly more and come with the guaranteed warranty (and in the case of the EOS R, a free EF-EOS R mount adapter).
