Canon Refurb Sale Coming Soon: $50 off $250, $100 off $500

The Canon Direct Store is starting a refurbished sale this weekend. Unfortunately it’s not as good as previous percentage-off sales, but they’ll be featuring $50 off a refurbished purchase of $250, and $100 off a refurbished purchase of $500. This should apply to all refurbished bodies, lenses, and speedlites. You can browse our Refurb Stock Tracker and setup notifications to get e-mailed once the sale begins. There will also be a code for free shipping that we’ll publish as it becomes known.

The best way to get notified about specific deals is to sign-up for a notification via our Refurb Stock Tracker or with the ‘Notify’ button on our product pages. We’ll e-mail you the instant the deal goes in-stock. Some items will sell out very quickly, but will be re-stocked periodically throughout the week. For example, the 600EX-RT restocks every week but sells out within minutes each time.

The 5D Mark III Body for $2549.99 deal at BigValueInc via eBay is still active — after about 48 hours, they have sold an impressive 432 camera bodies, or just over $1.1 million — that’s a lot of cameras.

It looks like this sale will stop at 500 sold (or sooner). With only 68 remaining, that should happen sometime tonight.

The last time we saw a big 5D Mark III sale like this was when Adorama sold 818 bodies on eBay in September of 2012 at $2749 each, for a tidy $2.25 million.

Again, BigValueInc via eBay is not an authorized dealer, but the last few sales our users have reported getting USA warranty bodies, and we’ve heard no complaints.

Recent addition to the Canon Refurb Store: the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM for $5839.20 (compare with $6799 new from an authorized dealer). This highly regarded 300mm re-design is the first of the new series of supertelephoto primes to appear in the refurbished store, and hopefully the 400 II, 500 II, and 600 II will soon also appear. As of July 2013, all purchases of Canon refurbished lenses now come with a full-year warranty, which makes buying refurbished a no-brainer.

BigValueInc via eBay is not an authorized dealer, but the last few sales people have reported receiving US warranty items. These lenses were split from 5D Mark III kits that were featured in a $2549 deal yesterday (it appears to be still live, with over 300 sold). This is a great lens, especially if you picked up yesterday’s deal.

This is a really good deal: The Canon Direct Store is offering 50% off a refurbished SX230HS. It is a steal at $97.49. You also get a free leather camera case as well as a free 4GB SD card. They’re also offering free shipping on a purchase of $100 — you can add a few dollars of filler items to get you there, and avoid the $11.99 shipping.

The SX230 HS is an older model but still an excellent camera — 12 megapixels, a wide-angle lens starting at 28mm equivalent, a 14x optical zoom taking you to 392mm, and support for up to ISO 3200. For a compact ultra-zoom camera, the price just can’t be beat!
