As mentioned yesterday, we expect many of our street prices may be impacted when the first 10% phase of tariffs is implemented tonight at 12:01 AM on April 5th (those who have recently purchased from our street price program will know why). Many CPW readers took advantage of the current pricing yesterday and are receiving their items today.
We’ve examined the rules, and any orders are shipped out today are not expected to be impacted by potential tariffs. The shipping cutoff time is 2 PM ET. The store is upgrading all items to free express (next business day) shipping. Please inquire early and ensure your order is placed and fully paid prior to the deadline.
Assuming the tariffs go ahead, after today, we may need to adjust the street price program until we have more clarity on the trade situation.
I would expect items already in US stock to not have tariffs imposed.
That is correct. Items currently in the US won’t have tariffs imposed. Items that still need to enter the US will have tariffs imposed on entry.
Unfortunately, that’s not exactly how things work. A retailer isn’t going to sit there and figure out what part of his stock of a particular SKU was or wasn’t subjected to the tariff. Once midnight hits, everything will go up. You won’t see a “pre-tariff” and “post-tariff” price for the same item.
The other commenter is correct — tariffs are only applied at import. Existing inventory at dealers or at distributors will not be affected by the tariff. Once they are sold out and have to import new product (from Canon Japan), they will pay a higher cost, which will likely be passed on as price increase down the line until the end-consumer.
unfortunately, I believe resellers will get greedy, take advantage of the panic, and raise their prices at midnight.
Announcements, such as the above, feed the panic.

Don’t get me wrong, I love CPW and I understand marketing. My comment is to people reading the comments. Relax.
