Kickstarter: Pinhole Pro X 40-58mm Lens for Canon, $69

As seen on Kickstarter: a camera lens without glass? Thingyfy launched a new Kickstarter campaign for their latest creation, the Pinhole Pro X — a zoom pinhole lens with no optics at all. Seven mounts are available, including DSLR (Canon EF) and mirrorless mounts. An astounding 3200 backers have already pledged over $350,000 to support this project!

Check out the sample videos on their Kickstarter page — photos and videos with these pinhole lenses have a charming, raw, naturally vintage look. There’s something interesting about combining the latest in cutting-edge high-ISO sensor technology with the oldest lens technology. Although pinhole cameras have been around for ages, the manufacturing techniques they’ve used to perfect the lens are quite involved. Check out their campaign page for more.

For a limited time, you can get a 30% super-early bird discount on the new Pinhole Pro X ($69) or on their previously released Pinhole Pro S ($41) and Pinhole Pro ($55) lenses. Pledge $99 to get Pinhole Pro X plus accessories, or $165 to get all 3 lenses with an expected ship date of November 2019.

No glass? Sounds like a recipe for a dusty sensor.

Sounds like fun, if you don’t get it, you must have never worked with film, your loss.
