Now Listing Canon Direct Store in New Product Price Listings

We’re now listing the Canon Direct Store in the price listings on our site. The Canon Direct Store is most famous for their discounted refurbished cameras and lenses, but they also have extensive inventory for brand new lenses and cameras.

There are a few great reasons to purchase from the Canon store. First, they often offer free shipping specials (including free express shipping on pre-order products). Second, we often see them stocking new release items quickly, as they are amongst the first stores to get stock. Finally, there is great integration between CarePAK PLUS and the Canon Direct Store, making it easy to pick and activate the right CarePAK PLUS plan.

Check out the Canon Direct Store listings, and please consider them for your next big pre-order!

If you purchase something through a link on our site, we may get a small share of the sale (at no cost to you). Please read our disclosure for more info.

Wanted to add that the refurbs through the Canon store carry the same 1 year warranty you get on a new item, and often are barely used items. Sometimes they are just open box items without anything wrong. I have bought 2 80Ds from the refurb sales, both cameras were in top shape. They do charge sales tax, but often during the sales you still get a better deal than elsewhere, especially when you consider the warranty.

Same here. Bought my t5i and 5DIV from Canon Refurb’d.
Some say the refurbs may even perform better since they have an even more stringent quality control checklist than the brand new gear.

For the most part, each refurb at the very least was inspected by a technician to see if it works. Not all assembly line items get inspected. I don’t know about better performance, I would say more like, it’s a safer bet in some cases, due to the additional inspection. For me, having the same warranty as a new item, with the added inspection for a lower price and also direct from Canon themself? To me it’s just good sense.

I’ve purchased several bodies and lenses from Canon Direct refurbed and have been pleased with all of them. I do wonder though, if some of the lenses are copies that pros have purchased more than one copy to test and returned the ones that AREN’T their top choice (e.g.- the less sharp of the two copies). Anyone have any insight into this?

I would guess that is possible, doubt it happens frequently enough to be a concern. I jsut can’t see someone literally buying multiple lenses outright jsut for the purpose of finding the absolute sharpest one, then going through the hassle of returning them all (especially since pro lenses can be thousands of dollars each). I would think it easier to just go somewhere they can test them before buying them. I would even bet the pro services offers this. Since they were never purchased they are not returns, and can go back in the box and then back on the shelf. It’s why Canon doesn’t seal their boxes.
