This hot deal Black Friday deal from Best Buy is live again! They have the WD Easystore 10TB External USB 3.0 Hard Drive with a free 32GB flash drive for just $179.99 — a $120 savings!
This deal is especially popular because WD are using either “Red” or “White” 8 TB Western Digital hard drives inside these external drive enclosures. Instructions are available (for 8TB, but 10TB should be similar) on how to extract the drive from the enclosure. This is a fantastic deal as the Western Digital “Red” hard drives (suitable for NAS) typically go for about $300. “White” drives have similar performance characteristics to the “Red” drives.
Has anybody checked whether these are red or white drives inside?
Is there an easy way to check without opening the enclosure?
Thanks!
Mine were two whites. I saw a Reddit post about how you might figure out if you get a white ahead of time. It didn’t matter much to me. I did have the 3v issue on one of them.
