The free-paper-when-you-buy-ink deal is back at the Canon Direct Store. When you buy the 8 CLI-42 (for PIXMA PRO-100) ink tanks in pairs, you get “free gifts” of photo paper, totalling 200 sheets of 13×19″ (in pro-matte), and 80 sheets of 8.5×11″ (in sampler packs). It’s not as hot as previous incarnations but still a great deal as you get valuable 13×19″ pro paper.
The individual ink tanks cost $16.99 each. You need to buy two at a time to trigger a “free gift” with every purchase of professional ink above $30. This is a total of $135.92 (split over four separate transactions), not much more expensive than buying the combo kit for $124.99. The (inflated) retail value of all the free paper is $479.92.
This deal is scheduled to expire Sunday evening at 11:59 PM ET.
They also have a similar deal on PIXMA PRO-10 ink (but not as good as it requires 3 ink purchases to trigger the $30 threshold).
The fine print shows what is included in each “Pro Paper Variety Pack”: 1 PRO Paper Sampler Package and 1 Pack of PM-101 13X19 50 Sheets.
I was hoping for the better deal. Should I wait for it?
Can’t predict what the Canon Store will do in the future.
Wish the old 4×6 deal would show up again
Rick Cone…
The Pro-Matte paper is terrible for photos, at least when printing on the Pro-10, the only Pixma Pro printer I have experience with. I thought I could use it for test prints. But the color reproduction on the matte is awful, since the paper just sucks up the ink, making the image look flat. It’s still good paper for other purposes, just not for photos.
