FocusCamera Bundles: 80D $699 AR, 77D $599 AR, Price Adjustments

Authorized Canon USA dealer Focus Camera is also running various bundles, that include a PIXMA PRO-100 printer, after the Canon USA $350 mail-in rebate. We haven’t seen the 80D and 77D bundles at these newly discounted prices this season. They’re also matching the price + free grip (but not the free battery/card) of the Adorama/B&H 6D Mark II bundle deals.

Reminder: if you purchased a printer bundle from FocusCamera in the previous sale (before the crazy deals), you now have a very strong case for a price adjustment, citing these deals.

Some great deals on those crop bodies. For people that just want to do stills, the T7i is fine, offering almost the same performance as the 80D for a lower price. For video, the 80D is still a good camera, albeit without 4k, and is also a great stills camera. As for the 77D, well, I think I would go for the 80D at these prices, but it does have 2 important advantages; it has digital stabilization for video and it has bluetooth, but it lacks a headphone jack and uses a smaller battery. All this assumes that you are staying with Canon, of course. If you need 4K, then the 5D sale is still active, or you can look into other companies cameras that can use your Canon glass with an adaptor.

I currently have a T6S… is it worth upgrading to the 80D? I don’t do too much video work.

Without knowing what you do specifically, I have the following advice. Ask yourself if the T6s is still doing what you need, or if you are starting to run into situations where the 80D is going to give you an advantage. I feel like these are the biggest differences; the 80D has a better focusing system (45pt vs 19 pt), better FPS (7 vs 5), Faster max shutter (1/8000 vs 1/4000), and a larger battery. So, it is a better camera for action for sure, as it is going to nail that focus better with all those points (plus the different ways you can set up that grid is jsut amazing), and the extra FPS will really help you capture that moment (though 5 FPS isn’t all bad), though I doubt you will ever shoot at more than 1/4000 sec, so that is a wash there. If you haven’t outgrown your T6s, then stick with it. Put that money into lenses instead; like the 100mm F2.8 IS macro (dreamy macro work), or the 70-200mm F4 IS (yummy, but I prefer the F2.8 non-IS for action), or the 17-55mm F2.8 IS (so good, sweet Caroline), or even some combo of cheaper but good lenses like the 50mm F1.8, 24mm F2.8, and 10-18mm F4.5-5.6. All those lenses have the potential to add something to your kit that maybe you don’t already have. The 80D will jsut add faster shooting for action, and better video options if you ever want to do that (but you say you really don’t). I would typically advice people to spend their money on glass first, and only upgrade the body once your current one can’t do what you need, or stops working altogether.

Thank you so much for the advice Kevin… I think it makes sense. I still consider myself a novice and the t6s seems to be adequate for me as of now.

How is this website? I have no experience with it. And I’m still confused with the rebate. Is it something like debit card cask back?

Focus Camera is an authorized Canon USA dealer, although we wouldn’t consider them a top dealer. You can read our opinion in this post here: https://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/2017/11/hot-6d-mark-ii-1699-80d-789-with-free-printer-ar-with-caveat/

RE: the mail-in rebates, here’s our FAQ, which should answer your question.

        Thank you for your reply!

So basically, this is a Canon official rebate, but not from the website, is that correct?
If it is a responsible dealer, I’d say this is a great deal.

Another question: does the rebate process have influence on the warranty or anything else?

This is a Canon USA promotion that is on their website. It’s listed here (second from the bottom.)
          https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/products/promotions-home

No impact on warranty, The only lasting impact is that you will have holes in your boxes where the UPCs used to be.

77D and T7i deals are sold out now. Not sure if there are going to come back with new stock.

Does anyone know if T7i + printer deal will come back soon?
