We’re very pleased to now include mpb.com in our used listings and in our new mpb.com Stock Tracker. Originally from the UK, mpb.com has recently expanded to include a US operation, offering a convenient way to buy and sell used camera gear.
We’re very impressed with this store: they have a very broad selection and great prices, they show actual photos of the specific items they have for sale, and they provide free shipping (within the continental USA) and a 6-month warranty. They only collect sales tax for purchases shipped within New York state.
Check out their selection at mpb.com or via our new mpb.com Stock Tracker.
I called their phone number and I was put on hold for more than five minutes and then the automated attendant came on and said that they were too busy and asked me to leave my name and phone number. I just hang up. It did not give me a good first impression with this company. How big are they and how many employees do they have? Thank you.
They are a fairly large company (50-100 employees according to crunchbase) with operations both in Europe and the USA. Try sending a support e-mail — that usually works better than calling, for most of these online retailers.

Hi Dennis – sorry to hear you weren’t able to get through. Did you manage to get through to an advisor in the end? Thanks
No, I wasn’t. I tried to call again and had the same result. First, I was put on hold, and after waiting several minutes, I was told that all the representatives were busy so I again I was asked to leave my phone number. Also, I sent an email inquiring about a specific product several days ago and I still have not gotten a response. It gives me the impression of a either a shady business or a short-handed business that is unable to be responsive to customers. I am concerned that if I buy from you and I encounter a problem with a purchase that I will have a difficult time getting a response. That all might not be true but it is preventing me from buying from you.
Hi again Dennis, again I’m really sorry you have had difficulty getting through to our customer advisors – we’re very busy and understaffed at the moment, but are in the process of employing new starters and working hard to get back to all customers and get back to normal.
I completely understand your hesitations due to this, but if you could send me an email to clare@mpb.com from the same email address you used to contact our customer team I will get them to respond to you right away. Thanks!
Update: I have since my last comments done business with mpb.com, including buying and returning an item; buying a lens while trading another lens; etc. and I have been impressed by their responsiveness and friendliness. I am attributing my early frustration with them to the fact that they were just starting their US operations so they still were not fully staffed to provide the service that they now are able to provide.
Oh my goodness gracious I wish I could afford one of those
the prices on MPH are higher than Lumoid or KEH.
It depends on the item. Some are higher, some are lower.
Unless it was run over by a car – twice – I don’t think they are selling a 600mm f/4 for $889. Oh wait–you click on it, and it goes to a 14mm f/2.8. Hey, I can dream…
Hi Don, if you’re able to let me know what lens this was I can pass this information on and get that fixed on the site! Thanks – Clare (MPB)
