Hot, Grey Market: 24-70mm II $1399, 5D Mark III $1899, AllNewShop

AllNewShop via eBay has two incredibly hot grey market deals. First is the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM for $1399.00, which is the lowest price seen yet for this lens. They also have the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $1899.00, which ties for the lowest price yet on this camera.

AllNewShop, also known as GetItDigital, is not an authorized dealer, so this item is grey market. A Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed. Readers report that the warranty has historically been honored by Canon USA, but given recent legal disputes, that may change.

Also beware a potential upsell call (stay firm and insist they process your order at this price). Other than this, they have been a reliable dealer.

Bought the older 24-70 f2.8 for $875 off eBay. Grey markets don’t Get Canon warranty honored so I don’t see the deal.

Used items don’t have a warranty, $1399 is still cheaper than a few used lenses I’ve seen. Still a good deal.

Actually, Canon USA has historically honored warranty even on grey market. It’s just not guaranteed as that policy can change at any time.

I could be wrong but I do know of people that have sent in grey market gear that wasn’t covered. Maybe it was Nikon or another brand but I have seen this to be an issue.

I bought a gray market 5D miii, when I called canon to check on the warranty I was told as long as I had proof that I purchased it from a US seller that it would be covered. Kinda vague I know.

      Good to know. Thank you.

Nikon definitely won’t cover grey market. Again, Canon has covered it as a non-written policy, but purely at their discretion (as noted by the other poster.)
