Haven’t investigated these yet, what’s the best option for 6D+Tamron 24-70, and 7D2 w/ 100-400, and a few extra lenses?

Scott the 1510 holds a lot of stuff. If you remove the lenses it holds a lot more. Sometimes I remove them and other times I do not.

Well, when I travel, those are the 2 main lenses I use so far… though I plan to add at least 1 more telephoto lens to the setup or rent for certain travel

Which is better the cube foam case or the padded dividers case?

    4. December 26, 2015 at 6:29 pm EDT

Def dividers. I bought the foam years ago and custom fit it to my gear. But as my gear changed I could no longer utilize it and had to buy the dividers.

Get one of these if you can! I bought one last year at this time and it’s amazing. It hold two canon cameras with grips one camera has a 70-200 lens and the other has a 24-70. It also holds four flashes and two wireless triggers. I have the storage thing that goes in the cover and it holds more there. Much nicer than a soft case. Can be used for flashes too. This will be my second case. 1510 rocks

Which one are you referring to Brett?

    2. December 26, 2015 at 8:29 pm EDT

The 1514 is the case with dividers the 1510 has foam

Weird, my order says 1510-004-110 with padded dividers, but the picture shows a 1514 which I think is the 1510 with the divider insert. When I ordered it, it showed that I had ordered the same case last year 😎

That’s some excellent deal. Although I have chosen Nanuk 935 over Pelican 1510 after lengthy research and actually handling the cases, I’d go for 1510 at this price.

If anyone buys one if these cases, I **HIGHLY** recommend discarding the pick-n-pluck foam and getting the TrekPack system…just got mine, and it is AWESOME. (http://trekpak.com)

      Is this the 1510?

    2. December 27, 2015 at 1:12 am EDT

      Yep…very happy with it.

Thanks for this Jeff. I’m very intrigued. What is the concept of these? Why so good? I am very familiar with pelican and their Velcro dividers. Why are these better? Thanks for your time.

Hey Joe (and anyone else interested)

First let me assure you that I have NO connection to TrekPack, except as a happy customer. I’m not in their marketing or sales division.

A couple of days after I got my 1510 (early November), I began laying-out how I wanted my gear to fit into the case. My wife and I are travelling to Maui on NYE for vacation / Anniversary and I wanted something better than a camera bag or backpack that I wasn’t afraid to place into checked baggage. After laying out the gear and doing the pick-n-pluck foam nonsense (it starts falling apart pretty rapidly), I decided that I needed a better containment system in the case, if I were going to travel with it and use it as permanent storage for my most often used gear.

I looked at the Pelican padded divider system, but I didn’t like the idea that if the case were turned on it’s end to roll it, or just set upright, the velcro might pull loose or shift and now things are free to move about the interior of the case. This isn’t possible with the TrekPack system. It PINS together with perfectly sized metal pins (the things in the photos with the red tabs on them). It’s designed to be pinned on the top only, but I had a few extra pins and was able to pin critical corners on the top and the bottom.

The nice part about it is, if you need to reconfigure your case for different items, you can do so by just pulling the pins and moving, adding, or taking away the “walls”

I needed to fit my tripod into the case as well, so I modified the system that was sent to fit my case, in order to make that happen. Note the lack of foam surround in the area where the tripod is. That is NOT the way TrekPack designed it…but I made it work for my needs.

The foam padding that the system is made from is very adequate and will probably last for the lifetime of the case.

All in, my spend on the system was around $120 ( I bought extra dividers…but wound up not really needing them…for now)

These seem awesome, but when ever it is that I pick up an rolling case for airline travel, I like the ThinkTank Airport series of luggage. But is it worth the 3-4x cost compared to this sale.
