Canon USA just launched a new promotion: from October 11th 2015 through January 9th 2016, when you purchase selected Canon bodies or lenses from a Canon USA authorized dealer, you receive a free “CarePAK PLUS“, which is a special new extended warranty covering accidental damage:
- 13-month warranty coverage, including coverage from accidental damage, drops, spills, or wear and tear
- Free return shipping (to and from Canon USA repair facility)
- No lemon guarantee — if the item is repaired 3 times for the same issue, you receive a new product
We’re glad to see Canon USA offering additional incentives for purchasing directly from Canon USA authorized dealers (previously the free Adobe Creative Cloud, now this free extended warranty.) As our street prices come from Canon USA authorized dealers (except where explicitly indicated), they are eligible for this new extended warranty. It’s available on the following bodies and lenses:

- EOS 5Ds (current street price is $2949)
- EOS 5Ds R (current street price is $3249)

This is great! I’d like to see them step up further and offer an even longer warranty period. 12 months on a precision engineered and built product that costs hundreds or thousands of dollars is pretty weak. Imagine buying a top of the line setup and spending literally as much as a luxury car costs and then thinking to yourself “Canon is essentially telling me that these products are only guaranteed to work until this time next year, after that if they need to be replaced, it’s on me”. That doesn’t feel like getting what you’re paying for, to me anyway. It’s also not even remotely consistent with how long their products end up being used for.
Great incentives too bad I bought my equipment five weeks ago.
Just my luck, I just recently bought a 7D2:(
Guess I bought mine a couple days early :/
What if I bought mine 2 weeks ago?
I purchased my 7D mark ii today through B&H Photo, will this still apply?
Yes, any purchase from a Canon USA authorized dealer, that includes B&H.
Thank you very much! How awesome!(:
