I did the 7D Mark II deal for $1549 two weeks ago, and everything went well. Super awesome camera by the way… now I feel the need to upgrade my 6D to a 5D Mark III because having more than one cross type AF point is awesome.

You would love the 5D3! I bought mine through CPW last year and it’s been amazing.
I am also looking to upgrade my 7D to a 7D2; does CPW have a feel for how prices may change this year? I’m not on a tight schedule, so I can wait to see what happens…

What should I do? This deal or wait for 5d updates? I wanna go full frame but fps is a serious concern since I shoot sports. Would love your opinion!

If you shoot sports, it’ll depend on what lens you’re using. The 7D2 will give a 1.6x narrower FOV, very handy if you find yourself unable to get close enough; or it will (if you frame or crop similarly to the FF) give you a little more depth of field to work with. It also has a slightly more modern autofocus system, which will be a little harder to “tune” but is probably a little more capable.
The 7D2 and 5D3 are less than a stop apart in ISO performance, but the APS-C sensor is more demanding of a high quality lens due to its higher pixel density. Give it plenty of light and it should be able to deliver a sharper image.
Today, I’d probably pick the 7D2 and the sharpest lens you could find. Tomorrow, if the 5D4 or 5Ds turns out to be a winner, who knows?
