I am SO confused with this. I just got a letter back from Canon Rebates saying my rebate was denied and the reason was “Your purchase was not made from an eligible retailer for this promotion. No sales receipt or invalid sales receipt”

I purchase from Adorama and submitted all the correct documentation.
The ONLY thing I can think of is something is up with my receipt.

It’s hard to explain but picture this. There is a “price” column and a “Total” column. For the camera “price” column shows $1,149.00 and the “Total” column shows $821.65.

Underneath it shows the camera again and the printer with it’s own price. The total at the bottom of the receipt next to my payment only shows $821.65. Well my card was charged $1,149.00 like it should have been. I am guessing the rebate was denied because it makes it look like I only spent $821.65

I am completely lost at what to do here
I took a picture of my receipt so you can see what I am talking about

Call the Canon USA rebate center on Monday and ask. They can generally resolve issues like this in one day.

It is not due to the purchase price, but likely a mistake.

Please update here after you contact them on Monday.

yea I will update here and let you know how it goes. The strange thing is after placing the order I emailed adorama asking for an itemized receipt just incase. I just checked and that receipt looks normal and shows the full amount.

Were you able to get this straightened out? I am so close to pull the trigger on this deal, but want somebody to verify it worked!

I’m sure it works, as other readers have reported successfully receiving this rebate. I’m hoping Jonathan can update us on how the Canon rebate center was able to resolve it.

Ben no reason to hold back on the order. As long as you submit the rebate on time with everything needed there should be no issues. I called the canon rebate center yesterday and was told they couldn’t find my receipt for some reason. I was told to email it to an address with my reference number. I asked what the next steps were and I was told I should get a response from my email.

To be honest the girl I spoke with was pretty rude but she said this should straighten everything out. It’s only been a day but hopefully I hear back soon.

I very carefully spent HOURS putting together my rebate information, carefully checking several times that I had everything, and just received a denial that states “the billing information on the receipt/invoice does not match the rebate form and is therefore ineligible for payment”. So, I went back and checked everything again, but can’t figure out the problem. I would not have made this purchase if there hadn’t been a rebate. I bought a 6d and two lenses, with rebates adding up to $400. Has anyone else had this denial? Unfortunately, they don’t give you any other information and it sounds like a final decision. The time I spent putting together the rebate materials is worth more than the $400 rebate amount!

Does the billing address on the invoice match the address you filled out on the rebate form?

Nothing is final — I’d suggest calling the Canon Rebate center on Monday at 866-668-9861. They are very responsive by phone and will fix the situation (usually only with one phone call.)

You know, just after I posted that, I checked yet again and noticed one thing: my husband’s name on the receipt, and my name on the rebate forms. Same address, though. I think that may be it. Thank you for your response 🙂

Canon should pay you if they don’t already 🙂
