Street Price Special: EF 11-24mm f/4L for $2799 from Authorized Dealer

We’re pleased to see the return of a street price special on the EF 11-24mm f/4L USM: only $2799, brand new from an authorized Canon dealer with a 1-year Canon USA warranty. Free shipping.

Please note, quantities are still very limited, so this price is only available until sold out. Compare with $2999 MAP at authorized dealers, such as B&H or Adorama.

Last Week for May Canon Mail-in and Instant Rebates

The Canon mail-in and instant instant rebates are scheduled to expire on Saturday, May 30th. Purchases must be made at Canon USA authorized dealers on or before May 30th to be eligible for the rebate. We haven’t heard about any rebates extensions at this time.

If rebates aren’t renewed, this is the last week to take advantage of popular street prices, brand new from Canon authorized dealers, free shipping, and no tax to most States:

Instant Rebates on Bodies

Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 $769, Authorized Dealer CameraLand via eBay

UPDATE: Sold out 17 minutes after our post. That was fast… Sigma Art 35mm for Nikon $769 still available. They also have the Sigma Art 50mm for Canon for $799.

Authorized Sigma dealer Cameraland via eBay has the Sigma Art 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM for Canon for $769.99. They have exactly three copies available for sale.

Cameraland via eBay is an authorized Sigma dealer, and thus this comes with a four-year Sigma USA warranty. Free shipping, and tax only to NY state. Compare with our street price of $809 or regular price of $899!

Note their listing has condition “New (other)” and says “We had an in store demo and these were shown and put back in the box.” Readers who have previously purchased from Cameraland in similar circumstances received a lens absolutely brand new, and were extremely pleased with the purchase. “Open-box” items are generally exempt from Minimum Advertised Pricing policies…

Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II SD 128GB $68, 64GB $39

More great deals on high-speed Lexar SD cards.

This deal is only a few dollars more than an Amazon Lightning Deal which sold out in only two hours, last month.

These are UHS-II Speed Class 3 cards rated up to 150MB/s read. Note that all Canon cameras at this time don’t support the UHS-II interface, but this card is backwards compatible and will operate as a fast UHS-I card. This is fantastic pricing for a fast card that is future-proof for later camera offerings.

EF 100-400mm (Old Version) for $1299 at Adorama via eBay

Adorama via eBay is clearing out the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM (old version) for $1299.00.

This is a great price if you’re not interested in shelling out for the new EF 100-400mm II ($2199).

This is also notable as the price of $1299.00 is below Canon’s Minimum Advertised Price of $1499 for this lens. We’re not sure if this is a special exemption or an indication that Canon’s MAP policy is being relaxed.

New EF 50mm f/1.8 STM In Stock and Available to Ship Today

The recently announced Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM is now in-stock and available to ship out today at most major stores, including B&H, Adorama, and Amazon.

At a price of only $125.00, we’re extremely impressed with the value they’ve delivered in this refresh. They have resolved all of our biggest gripes about the original version, and it is a great upgrade even if you have the original:

  • A metal mount, not plastic (the older 50mm f/1.8 Mk I with a metal mount sells for $200+ used!)
  • A more accurate and quieter STM focusing motor
  • Rounded aperture blades, and 7 of them, for smoother bokeh
  • Reduced minimum focusing distance

When readers ask us “I only have a 18-55 kit lens, what’s a good next lens to buy?”, our go-to lenses used to be the 50mm f/1.8 II or 50mm f/1.4 USM. Now it’s this new EF 50mm f/1.8 STM, hands down. It allows an aspiring photographer to experience prime lenses — shooting with wider apertures to achieve shallow depth of field, and moving your feet to re-frame rather than standing and zooming — all without breaking the bank. At $125, a fantastic price point, we’re expecting this lens to be very popular.

Canon Memorial Day Sale on Select Refurbished Bodies

The Canon Refurbished Store started a sale tonight on select refurbished bodies.

They also have the refurbished EOS 6D ($1299.00) and refurbished EOS 5D Mark III ($2199.00), but our readers know that the brand new street prices of $1249 and $2239 are better deals — especially as our street price authorized dealers do not collect tax to most states.

The EF 50mm f/1.8 II is now $79.99 refurbished as well, but note that has now been replaced with the new EF 50mm f/1.8 STM for $125.00 (Brand New), which is scheduled to start shipping today.
