Amazon has a very interesting scheme for working around the Canon Minimum Advertised Price policy: when you buy selected cameras or lenses, and use coupon code “CAMERAGIFT” at check-out, you get a $200 credit in your account after 30 days. The credit can be used towards a future Amazon Camera, Photo & Video Store purchase.

For almost all of the eligible items, our street price is better than the $200 “discount”. The only exceptions are these two items:

A pretty solid deal if you’re looking for either of the above, and have existing Amazon credit to use, or live in a no-Amazon-tax state. The Amazon Camera Store also includes categories such as accessories and memory cards, so it’s fairly easy to spend the $200 credit.

Get It Digital via eBay is not an authorized dealer, so this item is grey market. A Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed. Readers report that the warranty has historically been honored by Canon USA, but given recent legal disputes, that may change.

Other than a potential upsell call (stay firm and insist they process your order at this price), readers report that they are a reliable dealer, shipping brand new bodies with zero shutter counts. That’s reflected in their 98%+ feedback score on high-value Canon items.

We’re a tiny bit disappointed to see this match the previous best price, rather than beating it (we predicted $1850). We’re not sure if a further discount is coming in the grey market, or if this is it.
