Full Frame Deals Wrap-Up — Black Friday / Cyber Week 2014

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, you will have noticed: this year was the best year ever for deals on full-frame Canon bodies, namely the EOS 5D Mark III and the EOS 6D.

This post serves as one final summary to organize all the deals over the last few days, and also for future reference — I expect we’ll be referring back to this table when we talk about “those deals during Thanksgiving 2014”.

Some of these deals are still active — we’ll give a green background so you know. We don’t know how long they’ll last, but we can’t imagine they’ll be around for much longer. Other deals are long expired.

If you were waiting for lenses: we didn’t see any deals on L lenses. Other than our street prices, that is.

What did you end up buying this Thanksgiving week, if anything? Share your story!

i saw a 5d mk iii and printer deal on b&h for $2449 late afternoon, not sure what happened to it. that’s the lowest ive seen this season

    1. December 1, 2014 at 10:31 pm EDT

Not likely, as that would be breaking MAP, the lowest price for a MAP-compliant 5D Mark III + printer deal would be $2749 AR.

    2. December 1, 2014 at 10:32 pm EDT

no, im pretty sure it was that price because i actually spoke to a b&h rep about it (which he/she confirmed), thinking it was still going to be available when i got home from work to order. i should have ordered it when i had the chance. oh well.

What I wished I had bought:
5D bundle from 6ave that posted early Monday morning.

    What I bought:

The 5D body from BigValueInc on Friday, then the 6D package with printer from B&H Saturday.

Should have trusted this blog and waited until Monday!

  3. December 1, 2014 at 10:43 pm EDT

Thanks to you, I took advantage of the deals and picked up a 6D. Should be arriving soon.

  4. December 1, 2014 at 10:47 pm EDT

Yep bought the 6d also! Can’t wait to get it!!!

  5. December 1, 2014 at 11:03 pm EDT

My 6D should be here Thursday

I picked up a 6D + 24-105 kit just before the 6D sales at street price of $1939. While it wasn’t the best price, happy I had the camera for my holiday travels and happy to experience the street price process because I’m sure I’ll be using it again in the future for some lenses.

I picked up 6d+24-70/4 for CAD 2099 from Henry’s a few weeks ago, no problems with US shipping. It came up to around $1920 over paypal. They now have 24-70 and 24-105 deals, but not that good.

    http://www.henrys.com/73958-Canon-EOS-6D-D-W-EF-24-105-F4L-IS-LENS.aspx

I don’t know whether this deal was a mistake though. Never seen 24-70 deals even close to that.

Canon Canada was offering 24-70mm f/4L IS with pre-orders of the 7D Mark II for an unbeatable price, $399 CAD. Basically, if a store could demonstrate a real customer wanting to pre-order this package, Canon Canada would sell them the lens at a discounted price.

It’s conceivable that some retailers may have gotten a hold of more lenses than actual 7D Mark II pre-orders / customers, and then started to make bundles with 6D and 5D Mark III out of them (a much more logical focal length on a full-frame vs. a crop body.)

        December 1, 2014 at 10:41 pm EDT

True. I even started with a 7d2 pre-order, but then cancelled it. However, my 6d was an actual 24-70 kit, not just a bundle. The box said “24-70 kit”. I don’t know if they sell them in the USA.

Oh yes, I forgot about that kit. I stand corrected.

If I knew in advance, would probably have gone for B&H printer deal and added 16-35/4 instead of 24-70 or 24-105. However, I don’t regret that much.

I got the 5DIII for 2399 from AllNewShop last week. Managed to cancel without any penalty today and get the bundle 5DIII + 24-105 for 2699 (only 300 more). Cannot wait to get it.

Thank you CPW! Really appreciate all your hard work!!!

    Unfortunately, couldn’t snag the 6D deal. 🙁
Do you think there would be any deals similar to this in the near future? Or is this the cheapest it’ll be for a while?

  12. December 2, 2014 at 12:51 am EDT

Thanks to this blog and the dedicated writers from canonpricewatch, i was able to validate the rumors and snag my first Full-Frame Canon 6D;pixma Pro 10; canon pe6 battery; 1-year warratnyy spill-break proof; 50 sheets of fine gloss 13×16 paper bundle of joy from Adorama. (tax Free!)

Thanks guys. Hey if you need help in visualizations, i can draw out graphs and bar charts on the past canon deals. It would be a nice addition to this blog. I will miss my Canon T3i…

A huge THANK YOU to whoever is operating CPW!

If not for you, I would have not likely known about the 5D M3 at $2399.00 and would have missed out.

Bought it on Friday from Big Value Inc.

Crossing my fingers and holding my breath that it will arrive on Thursday the 4th.

Of course, when I got home from work this evening, I was stunned at the seeing the 6Ave deal for the 5D plus 24-105L for 2699.00! If I did not already have the 105, I would have canceled and gone for the 6Ave deal. Considering what I paid for my 105 back in 2007, the 6Ave deal is unreal.

Now back to holding my breath till my 5D arrives!

Any ideas about deals for lenses before Christmas? Still hoping to pick up a lens or two before the holidays. Should I just go for it now or hold out for a while longer.

YEEHAWWW!!!! My 6D departed Secaucus, NJ this morning headed for Dixie! It should arrive in the deep south on Thursday! 😉

It is interesting that my credit card account shows a new pending charge from Adorama on it. Digging into the order on Adorama I see that they have split the printer off from the camera and that charge reflects the stated cost of the printer. I figure this must be for rebate purposes. The original total pending charge remains on my credit card account, though. I feel that either the original pending charge will decrease by the amount of the printer or that the extra pending will simply disappear….trust me, I’ll keep my eyes on this ~$500 difference to make sure. 🙂

    …so, is it Thursday, yet???!!!

    Two comments:

How is Adorama / B&H able to advertise that Canon will provide rebates up to $650? ( Canon customer service says not possible ) i.e buy a 6D and a printer and paper to get $650 in return?
Can rep tells me not possible to double dip. Can anyone help?

All in all What a frustrating week.
Picked up a refurb 6D direct from Canon for $1267 + tax on Nov 28th with free 2 day shipping. Got an order number and confirmation email from Canon.

Lo and behold today when I inquired where my camera was, Canon says, “Sorry, no inventory. We should not have processed your order, and we can’t backorder this.”

I didn’t bother w cyber monday because I was expecting this to arrive. I missed tons of deals!

The $650 rebate is valid. Other customer service reps at Canon have confirmed it. I’d suggest calling again and asking explicitly if you’d get a $300 rebate on the 6D and a $350 rebate on the 6D + printer + paper, if you bought a 6D + printer + paper.

Sorry to hear about your frustration with the Canon Direct Store. It’s not the first time they’ve cancelled a refurbished order arbitrarily (and definitely not the last).

        Thank you.

The canon rep said i would need to submit separate UPC codes for each rebate, one for the 6D body Claim and one for the combo claim.

The catch is apparently there is only one 6D UPC code included per box, so sounds like it’s not possible to sumbit two 6D codes and hence double dip.

Please read our FAQ which exactly answers this question:

          http://www.canonpricewatch.com/blog/2014/11/frequently-asked-questions-about-the-canon-mail-in-rebates/

You would check BOTH boxes (6D standalone and 6D+printer+paper) on the rebate form, and submit one form with both UPCs and one receipt.

If anyone bought a 6D bundle along with another deal and no longer has use for the 6D, I would gladly take it off your hands. I had to deposit my paycheck before I could pull the trigger, and B&H ended their deal early while I was at work so I missed out :'(

I received my black friday 5DMiii body only from BigValueInc yesterday. Perfect! shutter count zero, all serial#’s match (box, body, and the one read internally). Mine came in a body only box, not a kit box. I really didn’t realize how good this camera is. Looks like I’ve been suffering with a 7D for five years now. Amazing focus, low light capabilities, and picture quality. I love the softer shutter sound too! Turns my 70-200L IS II into a lightning fast beast. Thanks cpw!
