eBay Deal Frenzy: EOS 6D for $1349 (Import) from GetItDigital

An eBay Deal Frenzy began today, it runs until Friday. First up is Get It Digital via eBay: they have the Canon EOS 6D for $1349.99. This is an import model, but it has WiFi and GPS.

Get It Digital via eBay is a reputable unauthorized dealer, they have 99.2% feedback on high-value Canon items including a good track record on the EOS 6D. One small warning though, they are adamant about charging a 5% restock fee on returns (unless defective), so please be sure before purchasing.

If you would prefer an authorized dealer with a great 30-day return policy and a full 1-year Canon USA Warranty, we have a street price of $1459 after the $200 Canon mail-in rebate.

Hi. Price seems very good, but little concerned. Their ebay ad says it’s “exactly the same as the USA model”, but they don’t specifically mention WiFi and GPS in the list of features. Are you sure their 6D has both? Thanks!

You should call GetItDigital and confirm for yourself by phone, but all previous sales have been the (WG) model that includes WiFi and GPS.

Interesting. I didn’t even know that there were 6D models in circulation that didn’t have WiFi and GPS. Good to know.

Ive been told Canon USA won’t warranty or repair the import (gray market) gear. So you’ll have to ship it to Japan.

If you buy the import body, Canon USA is not guaranteed to service it, but we’ve found in practice they do provide warranty service.

Jeff is instead referring to the authorized dealer “street price” deal for $1459, which comes with a full Canon USA warranty as it’s US model.

So what are the negatives to buying an import model?

One is the retailer’s support & service — a reputable authorized dealer generally has much better service and will deal with returns more expediently, compared to an unauthorized dealer.

Canon USA isn’t guaranteed to service it; although in practice we find that they do provide warranty service, they could change this policy at any time.

You can think of unauthorized dealers selling import as discount overstock resellers (a parallel in the clothing world is Winners/TJMaxx/Marshalls).

Thank you. I feel that tj maxx etc. are products that have flaws or didn’t sell well. Is that the case here or is it the exact same product?

Exact same product. This is basically overstock from another Canon region. You can read our article for the details:

If I were to go the street price, do you guys know how long the $200 rebate is going to last?

The current mail-in rebate on 5D Mark III and 6D expires on September 27th.
