The Canon Refurb Store restocked just now — as mentioned they have new refurbished pricing as a result of the price drop over the weekend. There is also a Labour Day sale (ends today) where you can get an additional $50 off a refurbished purchase of $500 or more, included in the prices below.

15%… 15%..15%… maybe next month?
We’re hoping too, but with the way things are selling at these prices we’re not sure any stock will be left for 15%-off sales!
What a tease! Only 1 85L ? Shucks!
I just purchased the 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens. Should be arriving today.
How fast is their shipping?
I just ordered 2 70-200’s…thanks!
I tried to make a purchase. Apparently they have a new system in place. I was unable to purchase on the web site and I was unable to purchase via the phone. I tried two different credit cards. The lady on the phone was nice but I asked her to let her manager know I will not attempt to purchase from the canon store in the future.
Their website got worse with their most recent update. I didn’t think that could be possible, given how bad their old website was to begin with!
I’ve now been called by both American Express and Chase in regard to fraud this morning. AMEX fraud indicates the exact price from the Canon web site while the Chase amount is not consistent. Those are the two cards I tried at the store.
I agree with the web sit getting worse. I also tried to make a purchase Monday evening and the web site would not accept my home address.
I had to call the store this morning to place my order by phone.
I also told cannon I was not happy with the results I got from their website.
I wonder if the switch to MAP pricing caused a much larger than expected drop in sales and excess inventory?????
I am a bit confused why the 70-200 2.8 II is so quickly snapped up at $1789 refurbed. Last winter they were available for $1799 NEW. $2099 (Amazon) and an additional $300 MIR from Canon. Supplies of that deal never seemed to weaken, yet some people are snapping up two refurbs at this price? Do people really hate Canon’s MIR’s that much?
As much as we’d like to go back in time to 2013 and buy all the lenses we want, the going price today is ~$2000 new for this lens. If you’re in a low-tax or no-tax state $1789 is a pretty good deal (especially because refurbs are effectively like new lenses).
It’s not clear to us that MAP is going away any time soon, so it’s yet to be seen whether or not we’ll see insane deals again this holiday season. Recall, last season’s deals were precipitated by Best Buy “accidentally” breaking MAP by double-dipping the October rebates for 2 days, followed by every other retailer following suit.
