The current Canon Mail-in Rebates are set to end this week; they’re only valid for purchases through Saturday, July 5th, at US Canon authorized dealers.
We can confirm that a new set of mail-in rebates will begin on Sunday — however, most lens rebate values will be lowered, and some rebates eliminated altogether, which will effectively increase the final price. Specifically, some of the most popular items will see a significant change to the rebate:
- The 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II rebate goes from $300 to $200 (current street price is $1999 AR)
- The 24-70mm f/2.8 II rebate goes from $300 to $200 (current street price is $1799 AR)
- The 6D + 24-105 $200 instant rebate becomes a $200 mail-in rebate (street price is $2099 AR)
In summary, if you are considering a purchase in the short term, now would be the time (take a look at our street prices). Based on historical data, we expect the next opportunity for large rebates will be in the fall, the ramp-up to the Holiday season. We must caution that given Canon’s success in strictly enforcing MAP for three months now, we think it’s unlikely to see a repeat of last year’s double-dip frenzy.
Can we still “refund” the Amex gift card?
Has anyone tried this recently and can report on their story?
