Watchlist Exclusive: Street Price Preorders on R5 ($3749), R6 ($2399)

This deal is only visible to watchlist subscribers for the , ,

We’re super-excited to announce our street price pre-orders of the EOS R5 and EOS R6, along with the RF 100-500mm F4-7.1L IS USM. As a watchlist subscriber, you’re getting early-bird access to the pre-order!

This pre-order is from an authorized Canon dealer. They do not collect tax to any states, shipping is free, and the item carries a 1-year Canon USA warranty. You will be added to the pre-order list when you ‘confirm’ (fill out the street price form, then reply to our email with the requested information).

There is very limited stock and we cannot guarantee a camera in the first shipment (or in any timeframe). You’re highly recommended to also have a “regular” pre-order at B&H, Adorama, or Amazon. Don’t cancel any pre-orders until the situation becomes more clear.

Please fill out the form for more details.

Amazon Pre-Orders Available for EOS R5, R6, and Lenses

The Amazon pre-order links for the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6, along with several of the lenses (but not all), are now active. Check back to this post for the latest as we find more pre-order links.

EOS R5 ($3899), EOS R6 ($2499) Announced, Pre-Orders Available

It’s finally here! The EOS R5 and EOS R6 are finally announced!

The EOS R5 is a 45MP mirrorless capable of 8K video recording. The EOS R6 is 20MP with dual SD-card slots. Both feature the DIGIC X image processor as well as Canon’s first in-body image stabilization (IBIS).

We expect initial allocation/supply of this camera to be very low, with availability in July (R5) and August (R6). If you want this camera early, you should pre-order it immediately to reserve a camera (you can always cancel it later).

Accessories and kits for the new cameras are also available:

A number of nice RF lenses, and a new printer are also announced.

Predicted Pre-Order Links and Prices for New R5, R6, and Lenses

There’s only twelve hours left before one of Canon’s biggest product launches — we’ve never seen this much demand for a new product, based on the volume of pre-pre-order requests.

We expect initial allocation/supply of this camera to be very low, with the EOS R5 initially shipping at the end of July and the EOS R6 by end of August. If you want this camera early, you should pre-order it at 8 AM ET tomorrow. Remember, it’s very easy to cancel a pre-order, but difficult to put yourself higher on a pre-order list later.

To give you a head-start on the pre-order frenzy, we’ve predicting that the below links will be where pre-orders will be active as of Thursday, 8 AM ET, along with the expected pricing. We’ll keep this up-to-date, as things change and more becomes known.

We also don’t have a street price firmed up yet, but hope to have one soon. Even if you’re waiting for a street price pre-order, add the EOS R5 or EOS R6 to your watchlist. We recommend placing a regular pre-order above as a backup plan. Good luck, and see you tomorrow at 8 AM ET for the big launch!

Expected Thursday: 4 RF Lenses, 2 Extenders, R5/R6 Grips, Battery

Alongside the much-hyped EOS R5 and EOS R6 we expect to see several RF lenses, extenders, and EOS accessories launched on Thursday at 8 AM ET — less than 48 hours away! We’ve now added all these items to our CPW price tracker. You can add them to your personal watchlist to receive updates on these new items.

How to Get Ready for the EOS R5 and EOS R6 Preorders, July 9th

The long-awaited announcement for the EOS R5 and EOS R6 is coming up real soon — the announcement is scheduled for July 9th and we expect pre-orders to officially open on that date.

Given the ground-breaking specs and very competitive price point, there is unprecedented demand for these cameras. We’re also expecting that there will be low initial supply (as evidenced by the multiple announcement delays, rumored to be caused by supply chain issues). If you are interested in this camera, we highly recommend a pre-order as it will likely take some time before the camera is widely available in-stock.

Fastest Pre-Order Option: B&H or Adorama

If getting a camera as fast as possible is your priority, B&H or Adorama are the way to go. They already have landing pages up for the EOS R5 and they historically have been well-supplied at camera launches.

Although they now both collect tax to most states, they offer methods to help defray this cost: B&H‘s “Payboo” credit card pays you back the tax, where as Adorama‘s “Edge” card gives you 5% back or special financing. Apply for the cards now, to make sure everything’s ready for the big day.

Lowest Price Pre-Order Option: Street Price

If you prefer to save some money — from a dealer that does not collect tax to your state, along with extra bonuses or a lowered price — we expect to have a street price pre-order option on both the EOS R5 and EOS R6. We hope to start our street price pre-order on or shortly after the announcement day.

Historically, our street price dealers have been able to fill street price pre-orders within a day to a few weeks after the launch day of the item (depending on supply) — so if you’re willing to wait up to an extra few weeks, you can save money on a hot new product.

A good strategy is to pre-order at multiple places; we will send out regular updates on our street price pre-order progress and you can decide to cancel one pre-order or another as the ship date nears.

If you are interested in the street price, be sure to add the EOS R5 or EOS R6 to your watchlist, as we will be giving an early-bird opportunity to our watchlist subscribers.

An update for our readers with the EOS R5 on their watchlist:

We’re told that the EOS R5 official announcement has been delayed until July. We wouldn’t be surprised if the actual camera release is also delayed (currently scheduled for July).

We continue to pursue street price pre-order options and are optimistic we will have one on the official announcement day! As noted before, EOS R5 watchlist members will have early-bird access, and we’ll publish further updates to this watchlist.
