The Canon Direct Store sale on refurbished bodies, lenses, and speedlites is still on-going, but most of the great deals have sold out. Did you get in on any good deals? Leave a comment if you did!

We sent out over 17,000 refurbished notification e-mails yesterday. For those who aren’t familiar, the notification service sends out e-mails whenever prices drop below your target value for new, used, or refurbished items. You can setup this notification by clicking the notify buttons (see sample on right) on our Refurb Stock Tracker, on the notify button on a product page (e.g. the EF-S 10-22mm). The instant we see the item go back in-stock or go on sale you’ll receive an e-mail notice.

We saw many great deals get sold out yesterday — 17-55mm for $603, 10-22mm for $419, 50mm f/1.4 for $269, 24-70mm II for $1739, 2X Extender for $349, 8-15mm f/4L fisheye for $1099, 85mm f/1.8 for $285, to name a few. When will it restock? If past sales are any indication, there will be periodic restocks over the course of the sale, which ends on Wednesday September 25th. Your best bet is to setup a notification, and be ready — just like the first batch, they’re sure to go quickly.

The 5D Mark III Body for $2549.99 deal at BigValueInc via eBay is still active — after about 48 hours, they have sold an impressive 432 camera bodies, or just over $1.1 million — that’s a lot of cameras.

It looks like this sale will stop at 500 sold (or sooner). With only 68 remaining, that should happen sometime tonight.

The last time we saw a big 5D Mark III sale like this was when Adorama sold 818 bodies on eBay in September of 2012 at $2749 each, for a tidy $2.25 million.

Recent addition to the Canon Refurb Store: the EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM for $5839.20 (compare with $6799 new from an authorized dealer). This highly regarded 300mm re-design is the first of the new series of supertelephoto primes to appear in the refurbished store, and hopefully the 400 II, 500 II, and 600 II will soon also appear. As of July 2013, all purchases of Canon refurbished lenses now come with a full-year warranty, which makes buying refurbished a no-brainer.
