We’re expecting the EOS R1 and the EOS R5 Mark II to be officially announced on Wednesday, July 17th at 6 AM ET (3 AM PT). After the announcement, retailers will start accepting pre-orders.

Some retailers, like B&H, already have teaser pages up for both the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II. We recommend pre-ordering immediately as supply is expected to be short and there is large demand. The Canon Store, Amazon, and Adorama are other retailers typically with large initial allocations.

We may have street price preorders shortly after the announcement, but we recommend that you preorder at 6 AM first with a traditional retailer. Later in the day, you can preorder with street price once our pricing is known.

This year’s Amazon “Prime Day” will start on Tuesday, July 16th. The deals start at 3 AM ET and run 48 hours until 3 AM ET on Thursday. Amazon’s Prime Day deals are restricted to Amazon Prime members only. Just like the previous nine years, CanonPriceWatch will be watching all the deals.

This year we may actually see some deals on Canon cameras or lenses, but they probably won’t be exclusive to Amazon. You can browse our 2023 live-update post or our archive of Prime Day related deals for examples of the types of deals available. We should see great prices on memory cards, filters, bags, storage, 3rd party lenses, tripods, lighting, and other accessories. Deals sell out quickly, so be prepared to jump on them!
