Price Drop: Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM $882 at Amazon

We’re now seeing the first ever price drop on the recently available Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM for Canon. It’s available for back-order at Amazon for $882.03. Compare with $949 at all other authorized Sigma dealers.

It is surprising to see a price drop so early, especially when many stores are still out-of-stock (all major retailers have been out-of-stock for 3 weeks now). Amazon’s page says the item is estimated to ship in 2-4 months, but they accept back-orders at this price. Past history shows that they generally grossly over-estimate the amount of time to get things in-stock, so it will likely be much less lead time than stated.

[UPDATE: This is live again as of Friday morning.

Hot One Day Sale: 20% Off EOS 70D + 18-55mm Refurb, $863

The Canon Direct Store has a really hot one-day deal on the refurbished EOS 70D with 18-55mm IS STM kit. It is 20%-off for today only, the discounted price is $863.36!

This is the first time the Canon Direct Store has offered 20% off the refurbished EOS 70D. This is a fantastic deal as the refurb body itself is going for the same price (10%-off)! Compare with $1249 new or $1129 new through our street price program.

This sale only lasts today, August 20th. They are also offering 20% off the Speedlite 430EX: $191.99.

Refurbished items come with a full one-year Canon warranty.

eBay Daily Deal: EOS 6D for $1399 (Import) from BigValueInc

Today’s eBay Daily Deal is from BigValueInc via eBay. They have the Canon EOS 6D for $1399.99. Note that this is an import model and a split kit, but the listing states that the item has both WiFi and GPS, just like the US model.

BigValueInc via eBay is not an authorized dealer so a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed. A store warranty is provided instead. For this store we calculate a 98.9% feedback score when looking at Canon items only (eBay score is 99.3%).

Compare with $1649 from an authorized dealer through our street price program, as there currently is no rebate available on this camera.

Refurb Sale: EOS 70D $863 (10% Off), SL1 + 18-55 for $419 (30% Off)

The Canon Direct Store sale on lenses is sadly now over, but they have started a new sale on the EOS 70D (10% off) and the SL1 + 18-55mm (30% off). Both are really good deals, refurbished bodies come with one-year Canon warranties.

New Tool: CanonPriceWatch’s eBay Dealer Reputation Reports

At CanonPriceWatch we take the reputation of the stores we list very seriously! About a year ago, we created a tool to analyze the reputation of eBay dealers. This is one of the factors to decide which stores are reputable, and which are not. We’re happy to now share it with our readers!

>> CanonPriceWatch eBay Reputation Reports.

This very intense analysis of eBay feedback is especially important for unauthorized dealers. We calculate and track our own “feedback score” that is more stringent than eBay’s feedback score. We only include feedback on high-value Canon items so dealers can’t pad their feedback (as is very common), and also penalize for “neutral” feedback instead of just ignoring it in the score (like eBay does).

You can check out our reputation reports for the major eBay dealers that we list — and also one we do not list (you’ll see why). For example, check out authorized dealer Profeel‘s incredible perfect rating, or unauthorized dealer Get It Digital‘s history. You can even drill down and read feedback received by the retailer on a specific item, e.g. feedback on 6ave on only 60D purchases.

Canon Direct Store Restocked — 15% Off Lenses, Right Now!

See above for the most popular items. You can browse our refurb stock tracker to see what’s in-stock. All refurbs come with a one-year Canon warranty.

EOS M with 22mm for $311 at B&H, Free Shipping

If you still don’t have an EOS M, B&H Photo Video has the Canon EOS M with 22mm Kit (Black) for $311.00. According to the B&H site, this is for a US model, not an import version.

This is a bit more expensive than the eBay unauthorized dealer deal a few weeks ago. However, that was an import model from an unauthorized dealer, and this is a US model from B&H.

This price is $89 less than other authorized dealers.
