Beach Camera Sigma Art 50mm for $799, Doesn’t Seem “Refurbished”

Is Beach Camera up to their old tricks again?

Two days ago, Beach Camera via Amazon listed the refurbished Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM for Canon for $799.00. But we’ve now received two reports from readers who have already received their purchases: the lenses appear to be brand new! For example, Joe C. writes:

“No marks anywhere on box or camera that it is refurb. Everything sealed warranty card included. I believe they were new!”

If true, this wouldn’t be the first time Beach Camera, also known as BuyDig, has listed brand new items as refurbished to get around MAP Policies. They are an authorized Sigma dealer. Tax only to NJ.

Street Price Special: 500mm II for $8199 Brand New, Authorized Dealer

We have a special street price of $8199.00 on the EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM, brand new sealed from an Canon authorized dealer, with a full Canon USA warranty. See our other street prices.

Compare with a regular price of $9499 — this is a 14% discount on an extremely popular super-telephoto lens; this lens was $10,499 as recently as August (before the September price drop!)

EOS 6D — $1295 Refurbished or $1339 AR Brand New Authorized

The Canon Direct Store just restocked EOS 6D at $1295.28, with flat-rate $9 overnight shipping with coupon code “RUDOLPH”. The Canon Direct Store charges tax to almost all States.

If you prefer brand new from an authorized dealer, no tax to most states, we still have a great street price of $1339 after the Canon $300 mail-in rebate. Most of the printer bundles have now disappeared.

If you don’t want to do a mail-in rebate, consider the import / gray market $1299 at 6ave via eBay.

Our expectation (based on past experience) is the current $300 mail-in rebate will be reduced in value or removed after the current rebate expires on January 3rd, 2015.

5D Mark III: eBay $2329, Bundle $2499 AR, Street Price $2469 AR

Prices on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III continue to edge downwards. The $300 mail-in rebate expires on January 3rd, 2015, and we don’t think it will be renewed at its full value.

Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $2329.00. This is gray market / import. This is the new lowest price ever seen for this camera (body only).

Authorized dealer Adorama has a bundle of the EOS 5D Mark III and many sweeteners: a PIXMA PRO-100, LP-E6 Battery, Adventura 170 Shoulder Bag, Lexar 64GB SD card, warranty, and software for $2498.99, after a $600 mail-in rebate.

Finally, if you don’t need a printer, we continue to have our 5D Mark III street price of $2469 AR, brand new from an authorized dealer with full Canon USA warranty.

Refurbished Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 for $799 Beach Camera via Amazon

Beach Camera via Amazon has the refurbished Sigma Art 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM for Canon for only $799.00. According to Amazon, they only have 12 in-stock at this price. Beach Camera, also known as BuyDig, is an authorized Sigma dealer. Tax only to NJ.

This is a fantastic deal for a highly rated lens that was only introduced in April of this year. Compare with our brand new street price of $854 or the regular price of $949.

B&H DealZone: 13.3″ Retina Macbook Pro with 2.8 GHz i7 for $1449

It’s nice to see great computer deals via B&H’s DealZone: they have the Apple 13.3″ MacBook Pro with Retina Display for $1449.00, which is about $500 off! Today only. Free overnight!

This is 13.3″ Retina Display MacBook Pro with a 2.8 GHz Dual-Core i7, 8 GB RAM, and 512 GB of flash storage. It’s a Late-2013 MacBook (but note the Late-2013 and Mid-2014 MacBooks are effectively identical). It really is $500 less than the comparable Mid-2014 model. All in all, a great deal on a nice laptop (although my tiny complaint with this setup would be the 8 GB RAM, which is just marginally sufficient for photo-related tasks.)

BG-E16 for EOS 7D Mark II for $215 at B&H, Free Overnight

Prices on the Canon BG-E16 Battery Grip for EOS 7D Mark II have come down a lot since its introduction at $269 — B&H Photo Video now has it for $214.90, which is the lowest price ever seen. They’re also offering free overnight shipping — if ordered by tomorrow, it will arrive on Tuesday!

As for the camera itself, we continue to have a street price of $1639 on the 7D Mark II, or you can also check out a great bundle including printer for $1699 at Adorama.
