The new rebate has brought renewed interest in the street prices, mostly because savvy readers recognize that this is the best possible mail-in rebate this year. The mail-in rebate is scheduled to last until January 3rd, 2015, and purchases at street price are fully eligible for the mail-in rebate.

About one week ago we published eBay Holiday Canon deal predictions. We’re pleased to see that eBay has now released an “ad scan” of some of the key deals, and it looks like we got some of our predictions exactly spot on.

eBay doesn’t tell us when during the day these deals will be, just that there is a new deal every hour. As you probably don’t want to be watching eBay all day (where as we will be), please set a notification on a specific item you’re interested in, as well as for new blog posts (in the yellow box on our main page). This ensures you get e-mailed as soon as they deals go live, as they do sell out very quickly — generally within hours.

During the Black Friday Deal Frenzy

• An import EOS 6D for $1299 (set notification)

• An import EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II for $1949 (set notification)
  • higher than our $1899 AR authorized dealer street price!

An important thing to note is, these prices are good, but not great compared to our authorized dealer (Canon USA model with Canon USA warranty) street prices. In most cases, the prices are very close to, or sometimes even above our authorized dealer street price. The one upside is you won’t have to do a mail-in rebate to get these prices if you buy an import model from an unauthorized dealer, but the downside is a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed. We also expect you’d get better customer service from the authorized dealer.

Finally, we were totally correct in our EOS 6D price predictions. The second half of our prophecy, the elusive 5D Mark III prices, are not confirmed. It looks like we’ll have to wait until the actual day-of to see if our predictions come true.
