No Lens Mail-in Rebates (until May), Body Instant Rebates Renewed

Canon did not renew or extend the March mail-in rebates on lenses, they were left to expire last night at midnight. Thus, we saw an effective price increase on most popular lenses last night. A new rebate period started and the only item with a mail-in rebate is the PIXMA printer bundle. The new rebate period is from March 29th to May 2nd, so we do not expect a new lens rebate until at least May 3rd (or perhaps even later.)

The instant rebate on bodies was renewed at the current values, as expected. We still have these great street prices below, brand new from authorized Canon dealers, free shipping, and a 1-year Canon USA warranty. Check out our full list of street prices.

Canon Refurbished Sale: Up to 30% off Select Bodies (Rebels, 60D)

The Canon Direct Store started a sale on refurbished bodies. They’re featuring up to 30% off refurbished Rebels, 60D, and 70D. They’re also featuring a discount on a small selection of lenses and flashes (nothing very exciting). See our refurbished stock tracker for the full list. Add to cart for discount.

The prices on Rebels with 18-55mm IS kits are excellent — a great price-point for an entry-level camera.

Mail-in Rebates Said to End; Instant Rebates Renewed

We’re hearing from our usual reliable sources that the mail-in rebates on lenses will not be renewed after Saturday, we will need to bid farewell to these excellent prices.

We’re also hearing that the instant rebates on bodies (5D Mark III, 6D, and 7D Mark II) will be renewed at the same values.

Many camera stores are now closed for the day, but it may still be possible to place a street price order and be eligible for the expiring mail-in rebate, please contact us. Here are the most popular lens street prices:

Street Price Special: Speedlite 600EX-RT for $449

The Speedlite 600EX-RT is now $449, brand new, from an authorized Canon dealer. They have a limited number in-stock.

This is brand new from a Canon authorized dealer with a one-year Canon USA warranty. Free shipping.

Check out our other street prices. The Canon mail-in and instant rebates are scheduled to expire on Saturday (if not renewed or extended). Here are some of the most popular deals at this time:

Street Price Ordering Cutoff for Mail-in and Instant Rebates is Friday

We have received many questions from readers, “how late can I place a street price order and take advantage of the mail-in or instant rebates?”

There are currently two Canon rebate programs running, one is a Canon mail-in rebate on brand new lenses, and the other is an instant rebate on bodies (5D Mark III, 7D Mark II, 6D). They are both scheduled to expire on March 28th (unless they’re renewed or extended by Canon.)

We recommend that the street price order be confirmed (e.g. replying to our response and confirming that you’d like to order) no later than Friday at Noon ET to ensure you can order during the rebate period. This is because the rebate rules require you to make your purchase on or before Saturday, March 28th. However, many camera stores do close on Saturdays and close early on Fridays. Also, during working hours, it can take an hour or two to get you through the street price process.

The lens mail-in rebate does not need to be mailed to Canon until April 28th, so you can receive your package next week and still participate in the rebate.

Live Again: 5D Mark III Import $1999, or B&H Printer Bundle $2249 AR

If pre-ordering the new 5Ds or 5Ds R is not for you, check out these deals on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III:

This eBay Daily Deal is back: Get It Digital via eBay has the Canon EOS 5D Mark III for $1999.00. This is a grey market / import model for which a Canon USA warranty is not guaranteed (but historically Canon USA will provide warranty service anyway.) Readers report that the dealer tries a soft up-sell call — we recommend declining all upgrades.

B&H Photo Video has a bundle of the EOS 5D Mark III, PIXMA PRO-100, battery, memory card, and bag for $2249.00, after a $250 mail-in rebate. Click here to check out the deal at B&H Photo Video. You can also check out a similar deal at Adorama. This deal is currently scheduled to expire on March 28th — the end of this week.

Alternatively, we have two great street prices deals, brand new from Canon USA authorized dealers with free shipping, and no tax to most states. The EOS 5D Mark III is $2299. An even better deal is the EOS 5D Mark III + 24-105mm f/4L IS for only $2699. Both deals do not require a mail-in rebate.

EOS 5DS and 5DS R: Now Available to Pre-Order

The 50MP EOS 5Ds and EOS 5Ds R are now available to pre-order at most major camera stores:

Availability is scheduled for the end of June.

Savvy readers have noticed that Camera Canada, an authorized Canon Canada dealer, has excellent pre-order pricing. After adding shipping (about $40) and converting to USD at current exchange rates, the final price is about $350-$400 less than the US dealer price, about a 10% savings.

Historically, Canadian camera bodies have come with Canon USA and Canada warranty cards good for warranty in both countries, but this is yet to be confirmed specifically for the EOS 5Ds.
