We’ve had some time to go through this year’s 5DayDeal “Photography Bundle 2023” — as usual, it is an inspiring collection of training material and resources. It’s available for only $98 for five days only — expiring on October 17th at 3 PM ET, and this bundle will never be offered again! 10% of your purchase goes to great charities.

There are several levels to the “Photography Bundle 2023” — in addition to the main bundle you can add the “Pro Bundle” or the “Complete Charity Bundle” for even more learning opportunities. For our review this year, we decided to pick (and write about) our one favorite course from each of the “Main”, “Pro”, and “Complete Charity” bundles.

The Main Bundle includes 26 courses. The “Panorama Photography Formula” was a close second, but we always prefer courses that go in-depth and show a master in their craft. It was a joy to watch Mads Peter Iversen in “Mastering Forest Photography”, our favorite in this year’s bundle. He steps you through how to research and find forests, how to manage light, how to leverage fog, how to deal with seasons and weather. The explanations are well supported with examples of his beautiful forest photography, and then by two “hands-on” videos of him capturing and editing photographs of mystical fog-ladden forests.

The Pro Bundle features 10 different products. Three years ago, we very much enjoyed Nigel Danson’s take on photographing landscapes, and this year we were excited to see his new course “An Essential Guide to Photographing Seascapes”. He steps through all the hard work required to plan great seascape photos, with location research through Google Earth, PhotoPills, and Surfline apps; he describes the gear and settings needed, and then takes you through specific shooting techniques to capture dynamic waves and conditions in a seascape. Finally, he shows you the process of editing one of his shots in Adobe Lightroom.

The Complete Charity Bundle adds 20 more items. “Everyday Macro Magic” was our favorite in this year’s charity add-on, and one of the products that are viewed on a third party site (instead of through the 5DayDeal video vault). This course is a bit of an introduction to macro photography, and takes you through all of the core trainings (including camera settings, focus, light, and composition) to make great macro photographs. Although the course stops short of advanced techniques like focus bracketing, stacking, and rails, they provide a number of “missions” to encourage you to go and practice your new macro photography skills. This is a great intro for someone looking to try macro photography for the first time.

As usual, the “The Photography Bundle 2023” is great value at $98. We think it’s worth a purchase if one or two of the items catch your interest, and perhaps something unexpected in the bundle will inspire you.
