Clearance Sale: Sigma Art 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM for $399.99, Best Buy

This hot clearance deal at Best Buy is back: the Sigma Art 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM for Canon is only $399.99 — while quantities last! Compare with a regular price of $999 for this lens. This sold out quickly last time.

Note that Best Buy‘s listing says this is a “DC” (crop-sensor) lens — this appears to be a mistake; the UPC and pictures indicate it’s a “DG” lens that can be used on a full-frame EF mount. (Sigma does not make a Art 24-35mm DC lens.)

Excellent price, but I’ve never been a real fan of this lens’ incredibly limited focal range. Tried it once and found it not too useful. At that point even cropping a 24mm f/1.4 is about as useful. The APS-C lens was far more versatile and better.

Even Sigma’s newer 28-45mm f/1.8 is incredibly limiting. The way to go is ultimately 28-70mm f/2.0, as evidenced by the OEM lenses.

Hopefully some flippers buy 20 of these and find there’s no market for them lmao

I bought this when it popped up in the last sale. Focus was hit or miss until I updated the firmware, but it’s wonderful since the update. It’s razor sharp wide open with no distortion and covers the useful focal length range for landscape and environmental portraiture. The 28-70mm f/2 can’t replace this because that 24-28mm is vital for landscape. I use this when I’m traveling or taking my camera somewhere where there’s a higher risk of damage or theft. I don’t want to risk a 3,000 dollar lens; this lens is essential disposable at that price point. And the performance is simply unbeatable for the price and it has a great minimum focus distance and a unique character and nice bokeh.
