what’s the difference in standard vs control ring?
The standard adapter does not have the control ring, and is 99 usd instead of 200. The control ring is like an additional dial for changing settings. It can be set for a number of things, like aperture, ISO, shutter, white balance, and so on. If you have no need for that they other wise perform exactly the same.
This would be the adaptor I would want were I to get the R. I think most are setting it to control aperture, but I think I would do ISO instead. I always wanted a dedicated ISO control, and I’m already used to changing aperture with main camera control anyway. I guess it would depend on the situation. I shoot Av mode a lot, so a dedicated ISO control gives me a little more control over the shutter without going full manual.
I agree with @Kevin Diaz. I have the RF 24-105 and use the ring to change ISO. But, I have a brand new still boxed standard adapter. Wonder if they’d take it in trade towards a control ring adapter
