B&H DealZone: Atomos 64GB CFast 1.0 Card for $29.95 (Today Only!)

Today’s B&H DealZone (one-day deal) is the Atomos 64GB CFast Card (v1.0) for only $29.95. The regular price for this CFast 1.0 card is $159, this is an incredible savings.

This is an incredible price point for a CFast card. Please note that it’s only a version 1.0 CFast card that’s capable of writes of up to 80 MB/s. Other photographers have verified this CFast 1.0 card works in the EOS-1D X Mark II, and it isn’t too much faster than a Compact Flash card. This is, however, the most affordable option for using the second card slot (spare/emergency capacity or redundancy).

This deal is today (February 12th) only, or until sold out.

That didn’t last long. Sold out.

We figured it would be very popular. You can backorder at this price and we recommend that; it’s doubtful we’re going to see deals this good in CFast for some time.

True. Looks like you can get on a notification list… not sure if that means at that price.

    3. February 12, 2017 at 3:06 pm EDT

Looks like you can’t even backorder anymore.

I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone who owns an EOS-1D X Mark II bought at least 2-3 automatically.

Except that 64GB isn’t really that big – especially if shooting video. It’s funny how standards change. At this point, 128gb seems to be the sweet spot but I’m sure that will change as capacities go up.

It would be interesting to know how many 1Dx Mark II owners bought additional CFAST beyond the one that came with the camera in the promo bundle, given the vastly higher price point per GB. Personally, I’m not shooting video with mine so decent CF cards are sufficient. Some people might say price point shouldn’t matter to someone who forked over $6K for a camera body but it does. 🙂

Sorry guys this card is just not going to cut it.
need a good price on 128GB CFast (v2.0)

    1. February 12, 2017 at 3:07 pm EDT

      Yeah, CFast v2.0 cards are still about $200 for off-brand 128GB and $350+ for SanDisk or Lexar 🙁 — $30 for 64GB CFast 1.0 was a steal.

Thank you, But if you shoot with a Canon 1DX Mark ll small cards will not cut it for 4K video

    3. February 12, 2017 at 3:11 pm EDT

I would really like to see that too.

    4. February 12, 2017 at 3:11 pm EDT

Like to see what the 4K from the 1DX Mark ll

    5. February 12, 2017 at 3:12 pm EDT

Agree that if you’re shooting 4K video, CFast 1.0 is not fast enough for you. I’d only use the CFast 1.0 cards when shooting photos either for redundancy or as spare capacity (when you fill your card at an inopportune time.)

    CFast 1.0? Meh. 🙂

  4. February 13, 2017 at 3:17 pm EDT

Just got notice from B&H that the product is now “discontinued.” Probably an inventory clearance sale…

These didn’t even come in a package. Just a case with a label on it with a bar code. Disappointed.
