B&H to Begin Collecting Tax for Shipments to NJ, February 1st

As of February 1st, 2017, popular retailer B&H will now start collecting state sales tax on purchases shipped within the state of New Jersey. This is a direct result of the recent announcement that their fulfillment center will move from the Brooklyn Naval Yard to a new facility in Central New Jersey, citing difficulties in finding a suitable location within New York State.

Recall that online dealers only need to collect tax on purchases shipped to states where they have a physical presence. Many states do have “use tax” laws that require consumers to report and remit the sales tax on out-of-state purchases, but it the vast majority of consumers do not. If you’re in New Jersey state, now’s the time to purchase at B&H before the tax comes into effect on February 1st.
