The current mail-in rebates end tonight, and Canon is starting a new slate of mail-in rebates tomorrow, February 1st, ending on February 28th. They are also lowering the price on 1-series bodies. Here’s a summary of the changes:
- $300 mail-in rebate on EOS 5D Mark III is renewed.
(street price: $2399 AR)
- $800 price drop on EOS-1D X.
This makes the current price (after $800 MIR) permanent.
- $50 instant rebate on 600EX-RT is back.
- Lens rebates are NOT renewed.
There will be small lens rebates available on the most popular lenses, however, it requires the simultaneous purchase of a camera body (6D/7D/7D Mark II/60D/70D) in order to be eligible. The rebate values are also reduced from the current, stand-alone rebates. e.g., 70-200 II will have a $100 rebate if purchased with a camera body. Compare to a $150 no-strings rebate today (street price of $1849 AR.)
UPDATE: Turns out the requirement for purchasing with a camera body is removed, and the lens rebates are standalone. They are smaller and on fewer lenses as described.
Will the rebate still be in the form of an AmEx card?
Yes, an AMEX card you can refund to a check, if desired.
how about the 6D with the 24-105 …
Also a $300 mail-in rebate. Street price = $1829 AR.
So if I bought a 6D in January am I eligable for this new rebate for another one? Or did they just extend the rebates?
just an extension
It is a new promotion id, so you are eligible for another 6D purchase this period. It was NOT an extension.
Do you think the Street Price for the 600EX-RT will fall to the $429 level with the return of the $50 instant rebate? Thanks.
