A lot of complaints about this camera , and not just the lack of 4K video which I could care less about .

I’ve had mine for almost a week, and real world results are fantastic.
Will you be able to recover shadows that are -5 stops underexposed better than an 80D? Not by much, but if you properly expose your images and photograph rather than pixel peep, you’ll be quite happy.
If you really need 14+ stops of DR, get the 5D4. After all, the 6D2 is an entry level camera. Many are forgetting that. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not sure where you get the info about cameras that can do 14 stops??? The best DR performing Nikon D810 can do about 5 stops. The 5D IV has just barely caught up to a reasonable DR performance around 3 stops, and it’s the best Canon has to offer at the present time. I have the original 6D, and it has the better DR than the 5D III. The problem with the 6D II is that it DR is worse than some of the APS-C cameras and the original 6D. If it has about the same DR performance as the 5D IV, I’ll pull the trigger without giving it a second thought. Canon is trying to protect the 5D IV’s sales by crippling the 6D II DR performance, just like the way how it crippled the 4K functionality of the 5D IV to protect their pro video equipment. Canon has way too many products they are trying to protect from self cannibalism, and that’s not a good thing for Canon users….

It also is being help back by Canon , with a Digi 7 and it’s decent sensor , this camera is so much more capable , I would have been willing to pay more for the camera if Canon had just unleashed it’s full potential .

I don’t see how it’s an upgrade from the original?

    4. August 1, 2017 at 1:27 pm EDT

And that’s what I did. Cancelled my pre-order, sold the mark iii and got a 5d iv. Original 6D is now full spectrum.

Rob LeBlanc How’s the low light performance compared to the original? Don’t care about 4K and know how to expose a photo, low light performance is really what I’m looking for…

    6. August 1, 2017 at 3:58 pm EDT

BTW Rob I know how to expose a photo. Took this with a 6D !

      I haven’t done much low-light + high ISO testing if that’s what you’re asking.
      I shall though.

If you know how to expose properly, and you’re happy with your 6D, what’s your beef then? LOL

  2. August 1, 2017 at 11:34 am EDT

too much plastic on it .wondering if it will hold up to professional wildlife photography

  3. August 1, 2017 at 3:06 pm EDT

Its on sale already lmfao. Soon it will be worth less than a 5dm3

  4. August 1, 2017 at 5:27 pm EDT

Way too high, but an easily avoidable camera even if the price comes down. The real value would be the first 6D at $800 or less, grey market…it got close last Christmas…might do the same this Christmas…depending on when production stopped.

I just paid $2100 for a grey market D810 a few months ago, and it is so much better than every body Canon has now, that it’s almost funny…let alone in another universe to something like a 6D2…

I did own the 6D and 5D3, so I am not totally biased against Canon, rather I can see things objectively. I say both 5D4 and 6D2 are huge let downs…where the 1DX2 was a barely incremental overall improvement over previous 1DX…

You sir do not understand the word bias. As long as you are human, you are bias. I personally have no interest in the 6DII at all and I will just hang on to my 5D3 for now.

You let us know when you’re able to produce work like Elena Shumilova who uses old Canon tech with your superior camera.

On that note, I find it meritable you are supporting Nikon. They need all the help they can get with financial difficulties and repeated recalls. They are on their 3rd shutter recall for the D750. They can’t fix that camera to save their life ๐Ÿ™‚

I agreed with you that Nikon’s quality control is questionable especially with their entry level FF. However, they do fix their problems by giving their customers brand new shutters free of charge plus shipping… As much as you would want to use that to attack Nikon, at least they can fix their mistakes. On the other hand, Canon had five years to catch up with the DR performance, but they went backward rather than forward in the case of the 6D II. I’m not sure you can send in your 6D II and expect to have your poor DR repair???

It’s not an attack, it’s a critical observation. You mentioned “however they fix their problems.” You missed the implication. There have been consumers sending in their cameras MULTIPLE times for the SAME issue. Thus 3 separate recalls.Oh and on the DR issue, maybe you should really check sales on Amazon USA which is a strong example of Global Market”. The 6DII is the best selling DLSR full frame right now. Those that whine about DR are a minority with the biggest mouths and often just can’t take a picture if they have to lift shadows 5 stops. Award winning images are taken by Canon products every day and they monopolize the market without having to succumb to multiple recalls or oily sensors.

Again, “You let us know when youโ€™re able to produce work like Elena Shumilova who uses old Canon tech with your superior camera.”

      6d for around 800$?

    3. August 13, 2017 at 5:31 pm EDT

Yes it’s been close to that last year.

I would again agree with you in regards to the lack of quality control with Nikon…I sent in my D600 multiple times and finally sold the damn thing…I sent in my D750 for the second time for the same shutter issue. I’m not going to defend Nikon for what it is.. I picked up a 6D a couple years ago and some L lenses, and the 6D is my go to camera over my D750 or D810; however, being a traveler who shoots lots of landscape photos, the limited DR can be a pain in the butt. Do I get great photos with the 6D? Yes! Do I need to work around the issue? Yes! Do I like it? No!

Should I expect the 6D II to have better DR than the 6D? Yes! Did Canon deliver? No!

  6. August 3, 2017 at 11:28 pm EDT

It appears that most of the complainers haven’t seen the camera, let alone used it. What’s the point? Post a real review if you have one. That would be helpful. Otherwise you are repeating what hundreds of others said.
